Mario offensive Philosophy adjustment

In the PAC12 Herbert was 3rd in attempts as a JR and 2nd in attempts as a SR... With only Washington St under Mike Leach being by far out ahead. 3,471 yards, 36TDs, 6 INTs, finished 5th in the AP poll and won the Rose Bowl... Really held Herbert and the team back.... Their top 2 RBs also averaged 6.2 Ypc that year while we are currently averaging 5 ypc with Martinez/Fletcher.

Maybe they just ran more at Oregon cause it worked more.
in 2018 they ran it 25% more than they threw it. In 2019 they ran it 16% more than they threw it. That's being ultra conservative to be polite when your QB is Justin Herbert and your running backs are CJ Verdell and Travis Dye

Think about how awful we looked in 2022.

Now imagine telling someone then that 2 years later a Mario team would feature an offense that is nationally #1 in total yards, yards per play, & passing + is #2 in points per game.

It's wild that this is happening
So does all that change the narrative that Mario is a QB killer and an offensive Neanderthal?

And their WRs were cheeks. Perhaps if you’re running that well it’s in your best interest to lean into it to open up the passing game? You can always cherry pick points to fit an argument. Facts are they won the rose bowl, passed only second to Leach in conference and Herbert was drafted top 10. Hard to argue with his results. Who knows how they’d have done passing 50 times a game with ****** WRs?

Honestly he’s been this way since last year.. that aggie game we were slinging it around…

TVD throwing games away with turnovers at alarming rates caused us to turn to a true freshman who honestly wasn’t ready and we honestly were protecting him
This!!!! I hate when everyone keeps painting the narrative Mario doesn’t want to put it in the air. TVD SUCKED!!!!

Idk why its surprising bro we threw the ball a ton even with tvd imploding, seems like everyone just forgets that

People seem to forgot or don't realize how destructive TVD was last year. The guy single handedly lost us GT and NC State and couldn't be trusted at all. People's idea of last years offense is wildly skewed by that.

Here's an adjustment. Run the ball outside, off tackle at the very least. Seems they plod through the mud through the A and B gap way too much
At the very least, show the RBs on film where they can bounce it outside once getting through the middle of the line. We have lost a LOT of yards from our RBs not turning it outside.

i actually would have preferred for Mario to revert back (no need to say back unless you mean to say back back IYKYK) to pound the rock football last Saturday.

We won the gtech game still if we knee but yea nc state he was terrible and dawson was mid last year in acc play as well. Alot of things can be true at once here

Porst narrative. Repeat porsting narrative x 1million porsts. See narrative collapse. Give Coach backhanded compliment for ch-ch-ch-changing.

Mario is stubborn not stupid. We have the best offense in FBS by going fast and throwing it all over the place.

Meanwhile Michigan, who everyone wanted to be like last year has had three straight games with under 100 yards passing.

If anyone’s paying attention, passing offense has overtaken the game of football at **** near every level. My belief is if it takes throwing it 53 times like Ward did this past Saturday to win, Mario will let it rip.

this is the most insane thing about this whole conversation on here. we were not a run-heavy team last year!
We learned in week two against A&M that if we were going to move the ball against good defenses, we’d have to throw it.

He had two NFL WR in 2019 lol. None of their Backs sniffed the league. He would have gone to the Redskins or the fins earlier than he did. People even thought the Chargers were reaching

Who? Juwan Johnson is now a TE. Johnny Johnson III is on the Texans with exactly 0 career stats. Brenden Schooler is with the Patriots as a safety but technically listed as a S/WR. Finally, Hunter Kampmoyer at TE with the chargers with exactly 0 career stats.

Those are the only notable pass catchers from their 2019 roster drafted/in the league and I’m being generous adding TEs. While some may be in the NFL, the only one that’s been somewhat successful is Johnson with a position change.

That same year they had both primary backs averaging over 6ypc and a spot duty RB averaging 5.8 a carry.

Both Johnson are in the league cant say the same about the RB's. IF you have Herbert playing against Pac 12 defenses you let him throw it not run the ball 25% more
