Mario Cristobal says Rueben Bain is back for Cal game

Cal does not have the quality of pass rushers Va Tech has.
They may not be as talented but we can't sleep on their pass rush. They have 14th highest sack % on defense (9.68%) and giving up only 52.38% completion rate (#9 in the country). In other words, they do put lots of pressure on the QB, or at least successful at it.

To be fair they played Payton Thorne, DJU, a crappy FCS team, and a freshman making his first start

TrumpyCane thinks those stats might be a bit skewed

Miami’s best defensive player is back.

Mario Cristobal told Joe Rose of WQAM that star DE Rueben Bain is a “go” for this weekend’s game at Cal. Cristobal said Bain looked great in warmups before Friday’s game against Virginia Tech, but that the staff erred on the side of caution. Bain, the reigning ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year, has been out since the first quarter of the opener against Florida.

Cristobal was noncommittal on the return of starting LT Jalen Rivers, saying that he will be a gametime decision. Miami’s bye week is after the Cal game, which may factor into the decision.

The Canes (5-0) will take on Cal (3-1) in Berkeley on Saturday at 10:30 PM EST. ESPN College Gameday will be broadcasting live from campus earlier that day.

DL needs some fresh legs

No clue on % but by my eyes we have badly struggled in generating pressure with 4. Hopefully Bain comes back with his hair on fire so we don’t vacate half the field blitzing giving them easy throws vs bad corners
