Mario’s comment today re: recruiting

It’s so obvious that Mario used the first two game/scrimmages to establish the run, attitude, mentality/toughness, discipline and identity. How successful we were at doing that is not the point. The game/scrimmages were to break softness and do just enough passing to sustain drives and win.

Whenever Gattis felt pressed a bit, he devised a set up of plays that worked every time, even in the spring game. I’m confident and there’s nothing wrong with that. We’ll see on Saturday.
I would be ok with this if it were 30 years ago lol. Its 2022 that tuff and physical identity **** is so played out.

Yea u always gonna need the physicality of the run game but he didn’t use it in the first two games because he wanted to break softness he did it because thats just his philosophy on offenses for his team. USC established there physicality in the run game and aired it out, so did OSU ****t even oregon did with bo nix lol

Everyone saying that they’re not worried about getting blown out better be worried.

Jimbob has recruited a lot of legit speed on that team. If they play to their capabilities, watch out. Also, we haven’t looked good in an important game in a very long time. The ****iness of this fan base is sometimes unbelievable. We ain’t done **** in ages. Let’s prove it on the field first.
Neither have they! But, yu hyping them!

I ain’t hyping ****. I’m stating facts.

Every season a majority of the fan base talks mad **** before big games to then cry like little bytches when we get blown out.

It happened against Baga last season, and before that it happened against Clempson, L$U, Michigan St., etc…and guess what? They all pushed our **** in.

All I’m saying is let’s prove it on the field, and not start saying ridiculous crap like some idiot said on here today that we’re gonna beat them 48-10. In what farken planet are some of ya’ll living in?

We haven’t won an out-of-conference road game against a ranked team in almost 20 years. You would think that at some point our fan base would learn some humility.

These ain’t the days of J.J., Butch, Soldinger, Irvin, Reed, Taylor, Kosar, Dorsey, the Bermuda Triangle, Dre, Shockey, Santana, Wayne, Jerome, Stubbs, Medearis, Portis, Edge, Gore, Willis, Sapp, Wilfork, Cortez, Maryland, McDougle, Vilma, D.J. Williams, etc..

Mario might hopefully get us there in the next few years, but we’re not close to being there yet.

We worked on a lot of our weaker stuff on D.

We are worst at cover 1 playing off. We ran that the most. We are a lot better at cover 1 when we jam guys up and get hands on them.

Our cover 3 is strong deep, but Flagg is not good reading the quarterback’s eyes. We could suffocate teams in cover 3 if we bumped guys coming over the middle and read the quarterback’s eyes to the receiver.

I don’t think we ran our best defenses these first two games.

I agree the one play when Wes cut under a route across the middle stuck out to me.. his head was on the swivel and he read the QB eyes beautifully

We play a close game and win against App St. We suck.. Texas A&M play a close game with App St. and lose that's not the real them.. Every game is different.. make the plays and you win simple

This is some sad ****, but none of this is relevant to this weekend. Dragging up past failures or successes has nothing to do with the current team. Every team is different, especially if you have a new coach. Does that mean we win, no. But listing a bunch of shortcomings of previous teams doesn't mean we lose either.

Granted. And I don’t think it mean we are going to lose, but our fanbase consistently lacks context. It would be our first time doing it in 20 years

I don’t get anyone being confident in us winning this game. We could win sure, and I wouldn’t be surprised if we win, but aTm could also bounce back exploiting our edge and LB’s while bottling up the run and forcing the focus on to our WRs and short passing game. I don’t know where we are really in the scheme of things. This game will say a lot.
Have you considered that alcohol might be a factor?

Not that this is surprising but he said that winning is a huge part of the recruiting effort. Kids want to play for winners.

That puts added pressure on us vs A&M. We haven’t showed all that much so far. Can’t afford being blown out.

Maybe we don’t have to win but we have to show up in a big way. Would hate to see damage to the ‘23 class.
Mann I feel you. But them ATM lost to App it’s a must we win that game.

I just watched their game on youtube. The QB is trash watch the highlights, he literally will make mistakes. I'm expecting our safeties to have a huge day... I worry about our corners but we will find out in about 5 days.
Hopefully the safeties can help the corners over the top to limit them on deep balls.

I’m mostly a Homer (80%) and slight Realist (20%) we don’t blow a gasket when things don’t work out and/or we lose. I’m not responsible for what Slurpers, Mopes and Trolls do when we fail to meet expectations.

The pressure is on them: they have a loss, beat Bama, had the #1 recruiting class, and are playing in their nosy stadium. We have to come out punch them in the face, keeping swinging and they’ll fold.

"Mario Cristobal is reportedly set to earn $8 million next season during his first campaign with the Hurricanes, who paid his buyout at Oregon before signing him to a $80 million long-term deal earlier this month. Cristobal was the big fish for the ACC program who fired Manny Diaz to get him.

Per reports, Cristobal will have the highest assistant coaching pool in the ACC for salary, which means he’ll be able to fill his staff with elite-level options and money not being a factor."

Cristobal is getting paid a lot of money to stop the trend you outlined and he's proven he can win big games on the road against teams that have a sizeable talent advantage.

I don't have confidence in winning, but I'm not buying the pessimism just because we had Al Golden and Manny Diaz as head coaches in the past.

Couldn’t agree more. I’m just trying to bring context. We haven’t won a game like this in 20 years and at the beginning of the week when I posted this there were a lot of posters living in a fantasy world

In the words of Warren Sapp when he was tired of the Buccaneers being dawged for losing and called the Yuccaneers! This **** ends today!
