Mario’s comment today re: recruiting

Same. We have the ability. We’ll also find out if Gattis is all ground and pound… or if there’s more spread concepts in the playbook. If we don’t see it during the aTm game it doesn’t exist.
Gattis said in his interview something like “3 yards on the ground ain’t pretty but it wins games and we are here to win games”

My gut tells me we won’t see any different come Saturday

I want to see that
Old school cane mentality
We finally have a coach that actually has that mindset and it’s not slogans or gimmicks
I expect we win pretty comfortably
As long as Ivey flagg and Mallory don’t play big minutes we’ll be good

Well then that’s what it is and you very well may be right. I’ll wait to reserve judgement as long as I can.

Saying we aren't worried about being blown out is not guaranteeing we'll win or being ****y. T A&M hasn't shown any indication that they are a team that can blow out any decent team. They looked mediocre against Sam Houston State and lost to App State, scoring only ONE offensive TD in the game.
We’ll revisit this after the game on Saturday.

Every season our fanbase talks the same **** without us having a basis for it.

A$$ and Mouth is a wounded dog with a stacked roster. We always tend to get the other team’s best effort, and it’s a prime time night game at their 115,000 seat stadium. You can bet your *** that Jimbob will have them ready to play.

If we can keep it close in the first half, then we should have a shot at winning it. But nothing that this team has shown over the past few years in big games should let anyone feel confident about us not getting blown out.

Not that this is surprising but he said that winning is a huge part of the recruiting effort. Kids want to play for winners.

That puts added pressure on us vs A&M. We haven’t showed all that much so far. Can’t afford being blown out.

Maybe we don’t have to win but we have to show up in a big way. Would hate to see damage to the ‘23 class.
We have to win , we haven’t won a big game in so long , this game is a must win

I’m not worried about being blowed out by A&M. That Offense and QB are ******* terrible. I think win or lose that game will be pretty close after watching them against app state.

What I’m concerned about is showing zero on the field during our easy games for a big time WR to be excited about, with the alleged best QB or top two QB in the country no less.
This. Can’t say I care much for how conservative Gattis (maybe Mario as well) elected to be these first two games. I understand they want to establish the run, but speed the tempo up a bit, let this QB who is supposedly as good as any in the country (Mario’s claim) sling the **** ball around. I know he missed a few Saturday, but we haven’t seen really any kind of deep passing game against the two weakest opponents.

I especially just hate how slow it’s been, not even so much the system on display. TVD thrives when he’s playing fast, look how well the offense has run the couple times we’ve sped up.

This game is about the balls our defensive players have. They are gonna pound the ball. It will be physical. Can our guys shut their run game down? Calling on the backers to have a day or we will have issues.

I just watched their game on youtube. The QB is trash watch the highlights, he literally will make mistakes. I'm expecting our safeties to have a huge day... I worry about our corners but we will find out in about 5 days.

We worked on a lot of our weaker stuff on D.

We are worst at cover 1 playing off. We ran that the most. We are a lot better at cover 1 when we jam guys up and get hands on them.

Our cover 3 is strong deep, but Flagg is not good reading the quarterback’s eyes. We could suffocate teams in cover 3 if we bumped guys coming over the middle and read the quarterback’s eyes to the receiver.

I don’t think we ran our best defenses these first two games.

Or you can spin this to recruits and say hey look. We need you so bad to come in and elevate our WR so we can start taking deep shots and open the playbook. Recruiting is sales. It’s easy to pitch something to recruits in your first full class cause you can say they are the missing piece.

This is the game we should be ground and pound. Possibly the reason for running so much games 1 and 2? Practice?

Lmao but but but Mario. These mfs acting like he inherited the BAMA roster. We're 2 years minimum away from having the dudes to expect winning these games.
