Mario’s Replacement

We seem to have a good sized contingent of fans who don’t think Mario is the guy.

Honest question for discussion, if you got your wish and he was fired who would you want to take his place and why? I’m asking for specific names and what they bring to table and why they’d be an upgrade. Some things to consider…

-Has to be realistic. Don’t list Kirby Smart or another coach at an established power we’d never get.

-What would UM be willing to pay?

-Risky up and comer or established coach?

-Can a coach navigate all the BS that comes with coaching at UM? Local handlers, small alumni base and fan support, the dynamics of S Florida recruiting, etc.

Appreciate the genuine discussion (although I know I likely won’t get it here lol)
Miami can't afford to replace him with that awful contract. I honestly don't think that is the solution. What I would like to see is someone added to the infrastructure to assist and quite frankly, take over power from Mario and serve as a GM to oversee Mario like it is done in the pros. The GM would be an experienced guy who has had a track record of success in building multiple programs and has final say or personnel and coaching decisions. This would allow Mario time to improve on where he is most deficient, gameday coaching and preparation.

So none of you idiots can come up with a realistic name? Exactly how I thought this thread would go.

If they can reach an agreement that allows Mario to leave and not get the remainder of his owed buyout money (like Mark Richt did), they can easily cough up 10-12 mil per year for a 3 year contract.

They won't fire him. It would be admitting they ****ed up and overpaid for a buffoon.

You understand the dynamics in play with the Miami job?

If Mario is at a point of termination fold program. The big boosters for Miami are tied to Mario. Cut off that funding and we are low level p4 program.

You need money and talent to win and be a top 12 type team.

Mark Richt, Manny Diaz, and Mario Cristobal have a combined 69 wins, so 9 years.
Yeah that's crazy. I mean everyone can talk about how crazy and delusional our fanbase is but compared to other programs, our desires are more than fair. All the success that Alabama has had for the past two decades and everyone is crying about DeBoer after one season. Ohio State wants an upgrade from a guy who has them in the playoff and competes in New Year's Six bowls EVERY SEASON. But we can't question man tatas despite paying a comparable salary to him that OSU pays Day and Bama pays DeBoer? Asking for man tatas to compete in the ACC championship game in year three is soooo offensive. Honestly, this fanbase (at least some) are soft.

Hence the original post. If Mario can't do it, who are you bringing in?

Usually when someone posts a topic to get the ball rolling they should provide their own examples instead of just calling people idiots for doing the same thing

I think he made his point. People are ready to move on from Mario but have absolutely no answer for who they would bring in.
