Mario’s Replacement

We seem to have a good sized contingent of fans who don’t think Mario is the guy.

Honest question for discussion, if you got your wish and he was fired who would you want to take his place and why? I’m asking for specific names and what they bring to table and why they’d be an upgrade. Some things to consider…

-Has to be realistic. Don’t list Kirby Smart or another coach at an established power we’d never get.

-What would UM be willing to pay?

-Risky up and comer or established coach?

-Can a coach navigate all the BS that comes with coaching at UM? Local handlers, small alumni base and fan support, the dynamics of S Florida recruiting, etc.

Appreciate the genuine discussion (although I know I likely won’t get it here lol)

The Grinch, he stole my Christmas playoff birth for our beloved Canes. He can come here, steal someone else's, and our Christmas dreams can ring true next year.

I am a supporter. But! I hope he does better with the academic side. Mario was the obvious choice. Unfortunately. Obvious is not always correct.
Personally, regarding the academics — one of the biggest surprises to me was how much perception outweighs reality. There are strong and weak professors everywhere. I found UMiami’s honors program to have professors just as talented as Ivy League professors.

Not sure how much sway will change the falling perception, but, I feel small college class sizes is the biggest blessing possible. Football success will always boost the gpa/sat scores of the incoming freshmen class profile. There is no reason why UMiami should not mirror the standing of USC and NYU.

As far Mario, i wanted him when we hired Manny; so I believe it was the right move. Although I was a bit nervous in between years 2 and 3, I feel really good about the situation now.

Ultimately, Mario won’t and can’t win over the supermajority of the fanbase until he strings together multiple seasons with double digit victories.
