I disagree, because I've heard this argument before. Keep in mind Miami's per capita income eclipses the Athens, Ga's per capita income. S. Fl can drop bags if it wanted to, and I would wager it does, we just assume it wouldn't dare with our bad press. Let's take the bag game off the table for a moment, because without hard evidence, we can't make an apples to apples comparison. Bags are dropped, but we don't know who pays what.
Miami has a ton of non alumni who wear Canes gear and attend games. The population of S. Fl is massive and even considering it is riddled with competitor fans, the resources are there.
The difference lies within the program itself. Focus on the "legal" approach to recruiting. More support staff, more mailers, more studies of kid film and more contact. The top teams are poaching our kids with tactics beyond the "bag game."
You really have no clue how the bag game works.
SEC schools have boosters who care about college football more than anything else and are willing to commit federal crimes to get recruits. They are also protected politically because they are state schools.
Comparing per capita incomes is absurdly dumb. **** there are more UF and FSU alumni in South Florida than Miami alumni, as Miami alums spread out and the school is only 25% the size of the other two.
