Malcolm Lewis Out for the Season

This type of injury makes me want to vomit - couldn't watch, but if my daughter gets a paper cut I need my wife to handle the mess. I'm a wuss! Anyhow, has Malcolm gone through surgery yet? I would imagine he will red-shirt next year and hopefully be ready for 2014. Kid looked like the WR freshman version of Duke, so I sure hope he gets well and can play again.

The reality is he won't be 100% and playing fully to his potential until 2014. It's going to take a lot to get the strength up and be able to come in and out of his breaks the way that he needs to until then. I hope I'm wrong but don't be surprised if he isn't as explosive next year.

What is this based on?

His ankle was turned all the way around. That doesn't happen without tearing ligaments and tendons and the rehab for that type of injury is extensive. It will take a long time to build up the stregth in that ankel to where it was before along with gaining that flexibility back. It is similar to ripping your knee apart which also takes a year plus to come back from and to reach preinjury performance levels. I hope i am wrong and he will be showing come opening week next year. We just need to temper our expectations of his performance next year.

I hate to disagree, but an ankle isn't ANYTHING like a knee.

The knee moves in one lateral direction, with a stop.

An ankle can even rotate - so once a lot of the initial swelling goes down enough, they'll open it up and get things back more or less where they're supposed to go.

I am only comparing the rehab length not the functions of each joint, I didn't mean to come across that way.
