Malcolm Lewis Out for the Season

as someone with a broken ankle right now, recovery is how much you put into it... you have to work and get the kinks out.... its not an easy road... i broke it in May and im still in therapy, im working the kinks out but it still hurts...

This is a relief. When an injury looks like that, season ending is the best thing that can happen. I'm glad his career is going to be OK, because this kid is going to be a megastar next year and beyond. In reality, as painful as the injury looks and must feel to the poor kid, it's probably better than the more standard ACL tears we all see week to week.

The reality is he won't be 100% and playing fully to his potential until 2014. It's going to take a lot to get the strength up and be able to come in and out of his breaks the way that he needs to until then. I hope I'm wrong but don't be surprised if he isn't as explosive next year.

What is this based on?

wish him the best, but i would surprised if he came back from that catastrophic injury. it was a dislocation with likely broken bones and tearing of ligaments.

When I was in school I wrestled and saw all sorts of dislocations and while I never saw an ankle I don't think it should take any longer than the rest of this season. Malcolm didn't tear or break anything, that's important.

This. Although there may be a broken bone in there somewhere. I don't believe he tore any ligaments. This seems like an incredibly painful injury, but from a career and recovery standpoint it has to be better than an ACL tear. When he comes back, he will still be at 100% of his potential, he won't lose a step like guys with ACL tears do (although with modern medicine, it seems that most ACL tears recover fully after 18 months, with occasional exceptions like Carson Palmer who are never the same again).

Ankle dislocation is a little different , getting the stability back there is really hard and you need a bit of luck . Think of how long guys go out on a high ankle sprain much less a complete dislocation .

Even if he loses his burst, that's fine with me. He'll probably end up a top notch possession WR given his work ethic. I thought his career was over after seeing that monstrosity.

Guys, not sure where you are getting your medical information from but this is not similar to, for example, a shoulder dislocation.

I am 90% certain there was significant ligament damage as well as a fracture of the tibia. Ankle dislocations of this sort are rarely not associated with structural damage although it is "possible".

He will recover but there is a strong probability that he will not be a 100% of what he was athletically prior to the trauma. If so, it will take a least a full year of recovery.

For all intents and purposes, this is more severe than a general ligament tear in the knee.

Canes SB is probably the most logical. I mean how many of us have sprained an ankle? that is basically messing up the ligaments, now to dislocate the ankle I am sure you must totally **** up all those ligaments to the tenth power! That was one ugly *** ankle, I am very hopeful he can come back but I would not be one but surprised if he is never the same player. I like to think he can be back next year but given the severity of the injury I would not be surprised is he is not looking like himself until 2014 either. Good luck and I hope and pray that you receive nothing but the best care the U can provide! I believe you can get yourself back ML!!!!!
