Major Applewhite

That's not what happened at all. Oliver quit on the team to prepare for the draft, and instead of being honest about why he quit, said it was for an injury. That ****ed Applewhite off who called him out for being "injured".
Technically, there was an established team rule that coats were only available to active players. Since Oliver was injured Major told him to take it off per team policy. Also, Oliver did play in a game after that incident. I think it's a dumb policy to be honest.

Applewhite has plenty of experience calling plays and called plays for Todd Herman at Houston. He's still going to be a solid play caller and we can't wait two weeks for the temple interviews to go through if we want to have a chance to finish decent in recruiting.

Oliver heard that incident was making NFL teams question him a little, so he came back and played in the Memphis game.

You’re wrong. But you’re used to that.

Nope, I've got a legit sauce on Applewhite. I've known all about his career in coaching since he started at Bama. IF Miami hires Applewhite, I'll be bringing more inside info to this site than Lil' Petey.

Somebody answer me this....why did Herman take play calling duties away from Applewhite?

His resume really is all over the place. Is thought of well enough by Saban for him to hire him....then he cans him after only one season

He has two good seasons as OC in 2015 and 2016, then Herman takes over play calling duties.

I'm sorry, but at best he's a risky proposition. Something just feels off with him. It would be a major mistake for Manny to go this route with names like Canada, Harrell, Yost and the dude from Toledo still out there.

Hard pass

What are you referencing here? Herman was HC at Houston for 2 seasons -- 2015 and 2016. Applewhite was Herman's OC at Houston for those 2 seasons. Then Herman got the Texas gig and Applewhite got promoted to HC at Houston.

That’s exactly what happened.

The tv broadcast showed him making circus catches before the game and the announcers questioned if he looked injured.

Applewhite was going along with Oliver’s plan, but that video made everyone look like idiots.

Applewhite didn’t handle the situation well. No debate. But the policy needed to be enforced if the HC wanted to maintain any semblance of control with that squad.

Defend apple**** all you want, this guy made two disastrous hires. Mishandled a simple issue with a player on national television. Got destroyed by Army after having more than two weeks to prepare. Couldnt significantly improve the QB @ HOUSTON (people say he is great at coaching qb).

The truth is most people here are used to trash Johny Richt and now you see Applewhite as an improvement so you celebrate. The truth is that your settling for mediocrity when we were told "Amazing". Its a sad truth that everyone on here has a FETISH OF BEING LIED TOO.

What's your take on him as an OC?

I'd rather have a potent offense than "inside info" from you.

I'd prefer him to Fedora. He's called plays more recently, has worked with two of the top 5 HCs in the game IMO (Saban and Herman) and can recruit pretty well. The way he runs his offense and calls plays is bascially everything Manny said he wanted in his press tour. He's gotten better at every stop.

What the **** are you talking about as far the QB issue? Do you know who D'Eriq King is? He got injured late in the year. Played WR and running back early in his career. Accounted for 50 TDs this season at QB. Outside of 2017, when healthy the starting QBs at Houston were prolific while Applewhite was there.

Learned Herman’s offense completely at houston and ran it successful for those 2 years Herman was there
