Main reason for defensive struggles: our upperclassmen

I think it's more scheme and development, fans look too much into the players. Arthur Brown couldn't sniff the field here, but is an All-American candidate at KSU.All the players said he just didn't "get it". So he became a genius back in Kansas?

Right. Goes back to my point about the camps. Its a coincidence that VT keeps winning despite having less talent than us? They have a plan and recruit their players accordingly. I see us doing the same only with a much better talent pool to choose from. It will take time but we are in it for the long haul if these guys stick around.

I concur. Not that talent isn't important, but having someone competent with a plan who knows how to implement the plan helps. We used to do an excellent job developing guys, but we've gone almost a decade now without doing that. Just look at our QBs and receivers.

Two of the worst recruiting classes in recent memory. You can cover up a lot of mistakes with good DL recruiting...we made recruiting mistakes everywhere, and then took a giant dump on the DL.

Arthur Brown essentially proves the point: he's not an impact player for the 2012 Miami Hurricanes.

Whatever the circumstances are, our upperclassmen are not the foundation of our defense.

This utter lack of upper class talent is exactly why people need to get off Donofrio's case. He has zero experienced talent to work with, especially on the DL. And this is why I think anything above .500 is a borderline miracle.

I think KSU has 9 seniors and 2 juniors on their starting D.

We got like 9 seniors on the whole **** team.
