The 2010 recruiting class was a complete train wreck on defense:

David Perry: converted to TE; he's 4th string
Jeffrey Brown: "So you like to rape young girls?"
Delmar Taylor: playing OL for FIU
Jimmy Gaines: in the two-deep at LB
Kelvin Cain: in the two-deep at DE
Travis Williams: playing somewhere in the ****hole known as Ohio
Kevin Nelson: ???
Tyrone Cornelius: backup LB
Latwan Anderson: MAJOR head-case; no clue where he is
Keion Payne: got the big boot
Devont'a Davis: rotting in Ohio with TWILL
Jeremy Davis: allegedly at UCF
Kacy Rodgers: starting at safety (and this probably won't last)

The 2009 class doesn't look much better:

Luther Robinson: finally looking like a decent rotation player
Shayon Green: starting DE (looks like a JAG so far)
Dyron Dye: moved to TE
Ray Ray Armstrong: yeah
Jamal Reid: transferred, then vanished off the face of the Earth
Brandon McGee: huge disappoint so far; looked like he finally tried to be physical in the BC game
Curtis Porter: impact player when he's in the lineup, but he's been plagued by random ailments
Prince Kent: never qualified
Olivier Vernon: left early after a subpar career
A.J. Highsmith: backup safety

And let's throw in the two guys from the 2008 class who were recruited to play defense:

Jeremy Lewis: backup OG
Vaughn Telemaque: JAG at best

These are 25 Juniors/Seniors who are supposed to be the backbone of the team.

For various reasons, 12 aren't even on the roster. HALF of our Junior and Senior defensive classes aren't on the roster! That is RIDICULOUS.

Three guys moved to offense, so now we're down to ten guys.

Out of the 10, how many would you say are GOOD players?

I don't know if it was your intention but your post actually made me feel really confident that our team is going to be tough as **** when our current underclassmen become upperclassmen.

We just gotta keep building through recruiting.

The DL is going to get some ballers this year. Guys who might be DTs or DEs. The OL is getting theirs too.

Those guys just have to be contributors because the 2012 class looks like it could he a really good one.

Oh and we need this incoming QB to push for the job too.

2009 name was subpar but much better then 2010 and I think 3 or 4 players will actually get drafted out of (Vernon,Porter,Armstong,Robinson)
but 2010 was a train wreck and no one will ever make a NFL roster...Rodgers is the only player that will ever start and that won't last like OP said and its only cause Ray Ray got kicked off the team

2009 C
2010 F-

We MUST keep Fisch here for 3 more years or so.

Right now he's irreplaceable as far as I'm concerned.

2010 class is just laughably bad, its literally unreal. How defensive HC at Miami could recruit that is beyond me.

I wrote something similar in a post in the WEZ about the defense and lack of upperclassman. Coach D'Onfrio is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't when it comes to the fans. If he blitzes, leaves the CBs/LBs man to man like he did with McGee vs Maryland, VT and Gaines vs Virginia (just off the top of my head) he's bad because he left them on an island. If he plays zone, allows the underneath stuff he's bad because he's not aggressive enough

Its extremely difficult to have a good defense without experience players. Not only do we have very few experience players, the ones that are experience are solid at best. No playmakers at all.

This is why you have camps. You put players in situations that they will be in as part of your team and see how they produce.

Frigging rocket science..

Like someone said earlier in the post, I can almost laugh now at the ineptitude of the prior regime but seeing that makes me even more optimistic about the future of the team and the defense. I cannot wait until we finally have all the weapons in our ****nal again (2 years down the line). I pray the NCAA doesn't crush us because we are going to win a lot of games and we are going to do it pretty **** soon.

I'm most looking forward to McCord and Gabriel adding 25-40 lbs

Gonna be ridiculous. I watched their get-off on the line last game and Gabriel Terry is a beast - but he's going to stonewalled this year for the most part.

My gawd in 2 years these 2 on opposite sides and Chick in on 1st, 2nd downs.
