Mack Brown & UNC

Nah we can’t say they “only” won x amount of games when 90% of the board thought they wouldn’t win more than 4 games before last season started.

Beating expectations should be applauded. Cats was predicting 2–10 again on this board. Winning 7 in that case is good.

I think they’ll be good. I think Howell will be a good QB in this conference.

They might go win 10 games like they did with Mitch Trubisky. Howell might fucc around and be better than Mitch

we sucked last year and they needed a 4th and us1 miracle to win that game.

I’ll give you that.

I’m just saying they were expected to be absolutely garbage. If Howell progresses naturally in college they could win 10 like they did with Mitch. I’m not calling them Championship contenders or nothing but I’m expecting a decent ball club. Probably 9 wins this season and 10-11 in his junior season.

Like said in another thread.....in the Charlotte area most are NFL fans and college basketball Duke/UNC fans .... Clemson is just as close as UNC to Charlotte where most of UNC top kids come from...there are way more Clemson football fans in the area than UNC...Dabo could easily clean up here if he wanted to.....

Thats what Im expecting as well. Compounded with a top 10 class and potentially another top 10-15 next year. Pretty simple to understand.

Besides us getting better (and Clemson being who they are) we need Unc or vt and fsu to get better.Makes the games more fun, makes us better, and shuts up the usually verifiable weak acc competition argument.
 
After year one with Mack and Manny who will win more this season is all I care about. Manny's rookie sson

NC does this every few years where they recruit well and have some surprising upsets only to eventually fall back to the middle of the pack and all their fans end up saying "I'm more basketball fan anyway" LOL

Fedora was not a bad recruiter.. last few classes were 28, 22, 30, 23. I mean thats enough to challenge for the coastal and win some bowl games. They just fell apart his last couple years. ton of injuries as well

Here’s the difference between Richt, Butch, and Brown.

We didn’t want Butch b/c he was “old.” We clowned Brown going back to UNC b/c he was “Old.” We picked up Richt, and even though he wasn’t “old” per say, he aged.

Brown, & Butch was in the studio, looking through film all day long for their new careers. Both felt they got the wrong end of the deal at both Texas & UNC. They were out to prove something.

Richt experienced a real measure of success w UGA, built them up to a national contender each & every year.....but, he was burnt out. Not sure if it was a matter of being burnt out in general or the fact he never won the big one and the booster pressure year in and out over his last 5 yrs weighed on him. He truly wanted to retire, and it wasn’t until Blake made a stupid offer, one he couldn’t refuse (the most $ he’s ever made & an opportunity to coach a his son.....his dream), Richt begrudgingly chose Miami.

I thought Richt came to us w/ something to prove, and he did; he came to prove that he can still call plays, and his son is an upcoming coach. Both epically failed, and u literally saw him age as our coach.

Brown may have 2-3 good yrs left, but he’s going to get every single ounce out of it to prove his naysayers wrong. We had a golden opportunity to smoke the ACC Coastal, but who knows if that window is open like it was.

Fedora failed where Mack is excelling, the state! He only got the top player in the state once and most times never landed more than 2 of the top 10 kids. He focused on places like Ohio and Mississippi... the locals wanted him gone! So maybe his classes didn’t rank bad, but as a recruiter, he alienated his home base. Everyone in NC rejoiced when he left
