Luke Nickel SR HL

He’s got some Cam to his game
He honestly does, some of the type of throws he can make
You guys do this all the time. Hype up an incoming freshman as the next great Miami QB (a lot of folks did it with Emory), then if and/or when said qb doesn't live up to expectations he's a JAG and it's onto hyping up the next high schooler. Can we let the kid get a few spring/summer/fall practices, along with some in game experience under his belt before we crown him? Does he have the potential to be great here? Absolutely! the jury still remains out because all we have is high school highlights, which 99% of recruits look good in their hs highlight reels. For the record, i am not calling him a bust, so you super fans don't get your hole-filled boxers twisted in your a**, i am just saying let things play out.
be a fan for once and stop being so uptight.

This is what i'm talking about. You can be optimistic for the kid and his future without venturing into super blind homerism territory. Barring any kind of significant injury to Carson Beck, he has some time until he's QB1 for Miami, so i'm not making any predictions about his time here.

Do you know anything about Nickel. He just keeps getting better. Absolutely annihilated the other team to win the state finals.

On one hand it's normal to say pump the brakes a bit as we've seen highly touted kids, qb's in particular crash & burn here. But this kid has so much in his favor compared to past signal callers who arrived on Greentree. Has received excellent coaching in Georgia. Tons of production + experience. Good football IQ. Can throw guys open instead of film that just shows him hitting wide open receivers. And he can make plays when everything breaks down. On the flip side his arm strength is just ok, isn't an elite athlete, and we haven't really seen how he reacts to high pressure as far as taking hits goes. But the pros far outweigh the cons & now he gets to learn for a year behind Beck.

Lol, Ethan Barbour & CJ Wiley. They both signed with UGA.
Hey lets keep tabs on both of them. You never know what can happen in the future with the transfer portal now. Especially if Nickel is named the starter in 2026 and they are not happy at UGA.

The 2026 WR recruiting class is BIG TIME. If they believe Nickel is that real deal we can clean up this cycle. Guaranteed 2 years minimum with him behind center can really help in recruiting like UF did with Lagway.

Begs the question - at what point should he be the starter?
2026. Beck is the bridge to Nickell. It’s a big reason why it was better to go with a guy with 1 year of eligibility vs 2. Nickell could give us stability at QB that we haven’t had in awhile. Not going all out for QB also lets us make stronger pushes for key skill players in 2026.
