That was a huge missed opportunity to put ourselves in prime position to host. We’re still 14th in the RPI after Warren Nolan updated with the result, so the possibility isn’t dead but it’s going to take some work. Unfortunately, we don’t have any standout opportunities left. Of course, that’s all moot without McKendry and McMahon.

If we take care of business down the stretch, we should make the tournament comfortably which was the most important thing coming into the season. It’s all right there, we’re just not mature enough to take the next step.

Didn't watch but sounds like Gino left the pitcher in for too long yet again.

@GAhurricane

Care to explain what's dumb about it?

Gino deserves criticism for leaving Van Belle in when in reality he took him out in the 5th inning and went with this setup/closer combo and they gave up 5 runs.

What Lance said was really dumb.

We just beat #7 on the road

I get it, I really do

But we just beat 7 on the road.

C'mon man, that isn't such the stratospheric accomplishment....we should EXPECT to get 1 out of 3, and strive for more. We beat ourselves much more than our opponents, whatever their rank.

No, Louisville just knocked around our pitching today.

Also, they did strive for more and almost got it.

On the road.

Against the first place team.

In terrible weather.

It's disappointing to lose Game 3 the way we did.

But Louisville is a top-5 team. It's delusional to expect to win a road series vs them.

They hit our best pitching in Game 3. That's what an elite team does.

This was the turning point. Van Belle walked in two runs and hit another kid. Gotta have someone warning and go get him before all that happens IMO. Somewhere along the line you have to start trusting some other kids.

Correct, it is delusional to expect Miami to win a series like this on the road. That wasn’t always the case, though.

The guys that were left in the bullpen gave up 5 runs in relief of Van Belle.

With a 2-run lead.

Your criticism is hollow.

I don't think its delusional to expect less blunders and incompetent management at times.

Its one thing if we are playing a squad that runs us out of the stadium on sheer talent game after game...but that's not happening. We spent a Saturday in Louisville making a blow out game a lot closer on delay, and then blowing a 6-0 lead in the next.

I'm not going to bow down to the #5 squad after they honestly gave us an opportunity to sweep them on their turf, we just didn't take it. Not saying they are not a great squad, just saying we could be MUCH better than we are...that is the truly painful part. The scary part is thinking how these kids getting older might not fix our major issues such as fundamentals and coaching....

Van Belle, whose thrown very few walks this season, walks 3 or 4 guys in the 4th and hits another. Gino doesn't pull him out, he lets him stay in there to give up 3 runs. Then Gino sends him back out for the next inning.
That was indeed dumb

Turning a 10-run margin into a 5-run win is such silly criticism. It was done for a purpose. To save the two best arms for game 2. So when we were in a close situation (which we were) we could go to our best arms.

Those arms gave up 5 runs.

There weren't any management blunders.

We just didn't pitch well.

And the 6-run lead was in the 1st inning.
