Louisville & Russell Athletic Bowl Post Game Plus/Minus

I thought Gus looked good. He also seemed to get better as the season went on. Definite power back that we sorely missed in this years offense. Next year he should get a lot of carries, especially on short yardage downs. Then we won't have to ruin Duke and beat him up. Should help our atrocious 3rd down conversion rate.

Gus isn't a power back. He's a tall finesse guy.

Not sure if this was a positive or a negative: Watching Shayon Green try and sack Bridgewater. I mean, it was embarrassing for Green, and embarrassing as a Miami fan, but spit out my drink laughing when it happened.

THIS. It's crazy that Dillard was basically jettisoned from the program and the reason given was that he wasn't the tough runner we needed. Hard to believe Dillard could be any softer.

I don't think he's soft, he's just not a power back. He doesn't have that mindset.

He lowered his shoulder today and got positive yardage, which is a big plus. He's always going to look to use his feet and dance around someone first though - that's just his game.

He probably has the agility to do it too.

Was that Green? I thought it was #34.

Different play. Armbrister (#34) was the one who was hanging on him and he escaped, Green just flat out got juked out of his jock and never touched him.

Plus: This pathetic end to a disappointing season filled that was with week after week of a** raping, just might lead to some changes. Maybe.
Minus: With no more canes football, what the **** am I going to do with all this extra a** lube?

- - - - - (that's a good 5 minuses for those scoring at home) Where was the cheapshot to knock Teddy ThroatSlash out of the game at the end of the 4th quarter when he was trying to set personal records and Louisville was trying to run the score up for recruiting points? Cornelius gets a ridiculously bogus 15 yard penalty and kicked out of the game for the best (textbook) tackle of his career and someone else can't hit Bridgewater 4 seconds after the play is over (I'm not crazy, they weren't going to get close enough to him before the whistle blew) and actually earn that penalty back?

/ no I'm not Dan Sileo
// yes I agreed with him re: Forced *** University's Devagina Freeman

I'd never advocate some cheap dirty hit. But you better make the HC regret leaving a guy in to reach some personal record.

Of course. Me neither.

Plus:

* We beat the Gators. That shouldn't be minimized. Imagine how it must gnaw at them, the way our season unfolded

* Deon Bush looked healthier tonight with more spring

Minus:

* Offensive line looked horrible. Linder's stock had to drop. Often looks like an average athlete out there. Flowers settled down after a while but overall it looked like he had discovered the Marcus Dupree Bowl Game Diet and put on a ton of weight since the end of the season. Sloppy frame. He tried some cut blocks and whiffed completely, falling flat on his face. His preseason evaluation will not be as high as many expect it to be.

Gus reminds me of a less talented LeGarrette Blount.

I've thought Troy Hambrick all this time. Big guy on paper who runs like a ****.

He's a bit before my time, but yes to the second part. And that's not necessarily always a bad thing.

Blount runs with a finesse style and it lets him stay fresh and then in the 4th no one wants to touch him. Problem is Gus doesn't have Blount's burst or agility.
