Might be hard to believe but SMU D has been better than Clemson in almost all metrics to this point.

Those may ranked 12-17 in league. Also 5 of the worst defenses in ACC and country.

The schedule for Clemson gets much much tougher. The best team they have played post UGA is UVA. Ewww

Im not sure Clemson doesnt drop a game here last month. Their defense has some issues.

Also im not sure Miami doesnt drop a game a game either. Its hard to
Go Undefeated, you get everyones best shot, and you need some lucky bounces.

The game that really worries me is @GT. They get 2 weeks to prepare, and get Haynes King back, and @DMoney said other day that GT defense isnt good, false. Much improved unit. They really got after VTs run game did much better job than us.

GT is good at LOS on both sides, and if Haynes is back, watch out.

Also Miami has to play on campus much tougher atmosphere than say ND had to where it was in Mercedes Benz dome.

@DMoney is not incorrect, the GT defense is not that good at all. They're a scrappy team for sure, and King makes them better, but the defensive unit as a whole is not good. We have issues with our defense, so comparing a performance against VT with us, is not really a great comparison.

FSU defensive line is better, and the FSU DBs are faster. GT defense gave up a lot of points to a bad UNC offense, a lot of points to a 'slightly above average' Syracuse team, and also gave up more points to FSU (21) than FSU has scored on anyone else all season long.

Our offense should excel against them, but the question will be if we start slow.

I do agree with you, however, that game is one to keep an eye on. After losing to them last year the way we did, I fully expect our boys to take care of business in Atlanta.

I'm usually in agreement with Pate for the most part but he's been way too high on Clemson the past 3 or so weeks imo. They've only played one top 40 team in Georgia and got absolutely dog walked. On the other hand we haven't been winning convincingly like they have BUT we've also played 4 Top 40 teams.

I believe it, but SMU has not faced any great QB outside of Shough. I don't think they match well against our offense that can run/pass.

What's the point of lacing em up if we don't want revenge on Clemson in the ACC championship game? If we can't handle that than we're not making it very deep anway. Rather have that notch on our belt than beating SMU straight out of G5

Clemson was destroyed by Georgia…Beating them means nothing towards the playoffs.

Totally agree. I just have a weird feeling that Mario really wants that one. He will say all the 1-0 stuff but I think that GT loss eats at him. I think the team really wants to get it for Mario too.

JMO tho.
 
If our game and Clemsons were flipped I’d pick Louisville to win. Still think it’s a toss up as is but I could see Louisville packing it in and Clemson has a lot to play for. I don’t feel Clemson is particularly good so I’m going with a too close to call.

But **** it, go Birds.

yeah disagree on GT's defense. They aren't a top 20 unit nationally, but they have been awful in recent years, and they are much improved this season.

-27th nationally in total defense
-24th nationally in run defense
-10th nationally in 3rd down defense
-47th nationally in scoring defense

The point is last season GT had a good offense, and their defense was pathetic.

Now when Miami plays them, if King is playing, they will have a good offense, and their defense is much better, and can actually provide resistance. They are more balanced of a team than in recent years, by a margin. The issue with them lately, is King has been out, and there is a sizeable drop off between King and the backup.

I want it because they’ve pushed our **** in in big games for a while. I want Clemson.

I’ve been feeling the same way about Clemson as well, if they show it these next 3 games sure. I’m absolutely hammering the VT spread though when they play, potential night game in Lane with a surging VT. Should be a great game
