Looks like Porter is gonna make a cameo on Thursday

Are you that concerned about the 2014 season?

The kid has eligibility left, we need him now.

I don't understand why we would do that if he can contribute quality time NOW. 4 games left, we have zero quality DTs, seems like it makes perfect sense.

I agree with Bob Maplethorpe here. Get this guy on the field right now now now.

Wes Anderson fan?

Nothing gets by you Mr. Hagen. That's why we keep you around.

I have a special practice. I handle one client. Now you have my number, I'll wait for your call. By the way, I admire your pictures very much.

You tell him, I ain't no band leader. yeah, i heard that story.

Can you get me off the hook, Tom? For old times' sake?

Can't do it, Sally,

There's no doubt when healthy Porter is our best DT.

Check out the flashforward from BC last year. You can tell without even looking at the jersey whens its #98 or #96. (BTW how terrible is Smith, jesus.) Porter's getting into the backfield, rushing the passer and handling double teams. He's much quicker and stronger then any of the other tackles that played in that game.

Smh...I really thought smith was going to be a player, but he's a disappointment unfortunately. Glad porter is finally coming back. We need all the help we can get.

FlaSportsFan88,

Smith is one of the worst DTs to start at UM in the last 25 years. He was brought in as a filler, in between classes for depth. Things are so bad, that he has to play a lot.

He is nothing, he does nothing and will do nothing. He is a fat tackling dummy out there, we need help. We need Porter.
I don't trash kids but smith is garbage.. seriously he cannot get off blocks. at least 12 plays i counted he got blown out the gap. bench him and never look back

We should shirt him, if possible, at this point.

I agree. I don't see a point in burning his shirt for 4 games unless we're afraid he's gonna go pro early based on his outstanding résumé

You guys are crazy. Play him get him 4 games.. maybe another 180-250+ snaps if we are lucky. Let him go through UT and then see what he has come spring. I think he will come out like gang busters his Senior year.

I think with King, Pierre, Moore, and Ivery we have at least 2 good linemen. I truly like King. I don't know why I feel bad for the guy, but I see him not getting pushed back as much lately.

He is garbage but he is getting a full scholarship to a top 40 private school instead of whatever other offer he had. I am sure he will be able to sleep at night.

I don't remember if he had a medical hardship or not. Seems as if he has been injured 85% of the time. Either way, this year is a lost cause. If we can still have him here in 2014, it would make sense.

He had a redshirt in 2010 and we saw from Adwale "Glass" oJAWmo that no 6th year is guaranteed.

Why are you worried about DT depth in 2014?

By then

Moore, Briscoe and Ivery will be juniors

Pierre, King, Grimble will be seniors

Bostwick (IMO) and Bryant will be sophomores

The whole point is we need kids who are mature and offer quality time. Right now we have a bunch of underclassmen and NO quality. We have a lot to play for this year and it starts Thursday.

Initially, because depth is key. This year is a prime example of that. Second, because who knows how sanctions hit us, a seasoned vet could help. Third, we are assuming we will have all those kids playing. Last, because seasoned vets help those younger than them. Olivier Vernon was on Sedano today talking about how he learned from Cameron Wake how to time the snap, mix up pass rushed (can't believe he didn't know this stuff already). So there's plenty of reasons to want someone with so much promise when we should (theoretically) be ready to contend.

It would be one thing to be worried about NEXT YEAR (2013) but to find someone worried about the 2014 season, where there is so much unknown (including "CONTENDING"). It would be another thing if Porter had NO ELIGIBILITY left.

It would be funny if you redshirt him this year, he balls out next year and leaves for the draft. You know next year is his fifth season, you know a sixth season is not guaranteed.

There is no reason to redshirt him if he can offer quality time this year. He has eligibility left, we are weak at DT.

And then there is this classic play

He could very well leave after next year, as he probably should do if he plays well. When there is so much unknown and you have an opportunity at having a sixth year senior that could mentor and be more than productive when Golden's first full class are juniors, I'd prefer that.
