Riley should have played over McCormick. Develop your young players over playing a 9th year guy

I was saying this even @ the UF game. Everyone knew Arroyo, if he stayed healthy, was gone during last season. Riley should have been TE2, so he could get his feet wet. He had the same weird issue at DT and LB. We'd rather portal in an experienced role player than younger players get on the field

Riley went from Miami to Oregon St. Talk about a down grade. Obviously I think part of it was he wanted to be closer to home. Regardless, blocking is part of playing TE at most places. McCormick was definitely a better blocker. Riley would have been primed to be a starter this year if he wanted to put in the work. He's about to see another TE of ours that did both most likely go in the first round. What a doofus move.

I think it was Riley’s dad that went on social media complaining about having to block. If he played over McCormick then that’s what he would have been doing 99% of the time

The point he was making was the the only time Riley was on the field was to block. He was the former #1 Recieving TE coming out of HS. And, honestly, I don't disagree with him. Williams should of been higher than McCormick on the depth chart.

It sucks, for both parties, that he's at Oregon St. I think he's better than Bauman but 🤷🏿‍♂️

No doubt I kinda wish Dawson used more 2 TE sets where both TE were threats. **** i also wish we had a competent defense so that the young guys could have gotten much more game reps.

The problem is, we DID do alot out of 12 personnel. But, McCormick was the second TE. I don't think he had a problem sitting behind a future Day 1/2 draft pick (Arroyo). I'd definitely have a problem with him sitting behind a 9th year senior, if he was my family.

Mario plays these type of games at DL and LB too. I honestly don't portalling in depth pieces from other schools to take snaps away from highly coveted players you recruited.

He’s not that good, that’s why he ain’t get playing time.

If he didn't want to block, he wasn't going to play over McCormick. And he simply wasn't good enough to play over Arroyo last year.

While i was never a fan of McCormick, TEs need to block. Very few are true flex-TEs who can make the NFL not blocking....so if that's your long-term goal, you have to put out tape showing you can do it.

Oregon State averaged 40 rushes per game. Miami averaged 33. I hope he's ready to block in Corvallis.

Maybe..just maybe Riley Williams isn’t as good as you guys think. Plenty of better programs than Oregon State on the west coast and that’s where he ended up 🤷🏻‍♂️

He looked the part. Had a problem with drops IMO. But I thought he could break out. A guy like Beck would have made him a lot of money. AFAIK OSU doesn’t have a starting QB, so head scratcher.

Beck loves to throw to TE’s from his time playing with Brock Bowers. Just not a good decision by Williams. The grass is not always greener.

Supposedly he was homesick. Oregon IS pretty far from Florida. Still, if these kids excel, they will go to the NFL, and there is no guarantee as to who will draft them. They could live anywhere as a professional.

Still...Oregon State...

Transferring closer to home to an essentially G5 school I think backs up that he was homesick.
