If we aren't playing a blue blood traditional power our fanbase automatically leaps to the conclusion of the team we're playing sucks and we should blow them out. Ga Tech and Cuse were solid teams, should've won but they were in no way trash squads.

I think all of these positions were fairly important to shore up the roster and taking off my orange and green glasses, unless a lot of young guys step up next year we are not going to be very good.

Today this is a 6-6 team in 2025.

Let's speculate for a moment and say we nab Beck... IMO, we only truly NEED a WR1 and Xavier Lucas to be in the playoff discussion. I'd like a playoff-caliber LB and another plus DB P4 starter.

Beck + WR1 + Lucas = 9 - 11 wins, realistic shot at ACC Championship and Playoffs
Beck + WR1 + Lucas + LB1 + another quality DB starter = 10-12 wins, favored to make the ACCCG and playoffs

WR: We will absolutely get a WR1 in the Spring portal. We do not need another portal WR, with Daniels, Jojo, Carr and the WR1 portaler, plus all the other young guys coming in.

S/DB: Lucas will be a Cane. With him, the next DC/DB coach have more than enough talent to work with. But given how bad the room was, I would prefer we bring in one more starter to make sure we've fixed the problem.

LB: Yeah, I'd go get one, but only if they're playoff caliber. We have Wes, Popo, the Bobbys, Chase Smith, Alderman and Hayes, plus Wiley is already 225 so could play in a pinch. Marcellin may need a year or two. But in general, the position group is able to compete with anyone in the ACC and just needs one more stud to be truly disruptive.

DE: Bain, Mesidor, Bryant with 4 2nd-years rotating in supporting roles (Pickett, Lightfoot, Rudolph and McConathy). Not to mention Scroggins and Lowe who are quality incoming freshmen. Lowe is already 250, heavier than all the 2024 class. Do you really need a DE portaler? IMO no.
