NIL opportunities with large companies and world class brands are plentiful in Miami, and nonexistent in Norman. These opportunities in an income tax-free state, together with our returning lineup on offense, and a proven on-the-field business case with Cam Ward, point to Miami as the better destination.
Attending OU would be a decision based on non-financial factors such as familiarity with coaches (Arbuckle and Kuceyeski), environment, proximity to home, family and friends, etc. I’m not underestimating those factors, but when making the pitch I’d much rather have the finances on our side with the better squad offering better weapons.
Should Mateer enter the portal and ultimately end up at OU, it would be a poor and unwise business decision.
