Live DJ at mooring workout #RISEandGRIND

So let me get this right F'ing FSU and Bama are using rocket scientist and developing cutting edge S&C methods and technology that results in super human type players an have championships to show for it.

http://www.canesinsight.com/threads/76049-Has-anyone-read-this-article-about-FSU-and-GPS-technology

While Al Golden brings in a goddam DJ to help in S&C , oooohhh wait it gets better he also turns out the lights while these kids are lifting weights , I guess being able to see form and technique aren't important any longer in training.

Jimbo is going to have a field day negative recruiting against this. I won't even mention what Mario is going say in negative recruiting recruits away from Miami.

I am all for playing music to get players pumped for a workout but this stuff is a straight dog and pony show. If anything Al should get a DJ for the Games.

As a leader you will have failures and successes, so will see which one this is for AG. All I know is UM used to be the model for S&C training an had the rings to show for it. I pray this doesn't come back to bite Golden in the ***! I do like the music selection Sak Pase to all the Haitian's out there..

Go Canes

This is what FSU is using to train

Stick to analyzing DT prospects. This was just flat out ridiculous.

I just don't understand why some of you compare Miami's athletic spending to schools like FSU and Alabama. We are talking about a program that still does not have a indoor practice facility in South Florida, hurricane season starts June 1st and ends on November 30th. So the entire offseason and regular season is played during the most dangerous weather conditions for football and yet you believe that Miami can afford biomonitoring.

Some of you guys must be too old to remember what excites teenagers.

To those that say I am I ridiculous for questioning using a DJ or advanced scientific methods, tell that to this man, that he must also be doing something wrong.

PARANOS you my boy..... STFU.... You're too smart for your own good....

i remember Spring/summer workouts having to wake up early as **** (4:00) to go to a boring weight room
no music
no chatter
just lift
run
calisthetics
5:30 im taking a shower then eating at the cafe because im up and atom

If we ever had a day like this it wouldve made the sessions that more enjoyable. They look like they're having fun... when you're having fun listening to music lifting weights nothing else matters.... Its like having fun being in a casino time flies before you know it the day has become night but its ok as long as you're winning and around good company nothing else matters.....

Right now.... UM winning and yall dont even know it because some of you are just ******* with a born loser attitude and dont know optimism even if it ****ted on your forehead

Oh so you two think the DJ idea is better than using the nasa scientists along with cutting edge biomonitoring ?

An if you do think the DJ idea will bare more fruit, well then lets go ham up in here as the kids say today.

You are just trolling... no one can be so dense.

Please, explain to me how one thing excludes the other

Did not explain and negged me...

Oh an to those bashing me in tjis thread don't forget to copy this guy on the memo about how using cutting edge S&C technology and methods are ridiculous.

@brazilcane I stated clearly read the **** espn article yourself and watch the video, both clearly lawout the value and beneficial results of my argument. Your response above is exactly why I said I would not waste my time explaining something that already has visual aids.

Dude, you're a moron. It's not like they hired a DJ instead of implementing an output monitoring program. You have no clue why they did this, it could be an inside joke between the coaches and the team or it could be just Swasey/Golden trying to switch things up. I can tell you first hand that going through summer workouts and winter conditioning is **** at times and the anxiety that builds on some mornings before workouts is brutal. If I walked into my old weight room back in the day and saw a DJ I'd have the same reaction that the players had - Relief, excitement and rejuvenation. This is no different than team building excercises during the offseason or on the road.

Quit being a whiney little cnt and just take it for what it is, not what it "should" be .

Can you really be that dense? As others have said, using the DJ for an early morning pump up session in no way is mutually exclusive with having a cutting edge S&C program. One has nothing to do with the other.

Guys grind all summer and it is tiring/monotonous. Think it was a great idea by Golden and crew. Bump up the spirit and rejuvenate. This has nothing to do with Gyrating Puntang Sensoring crap. It's about keeping guys motivated and rewarding. Some of you guys will find anything to **** on.

Dude in this video that you use to back your claim, Alabama's super humans are doing the same exact lifts that our guys are doing in the video with the DJ. So let me get this straight although they are doing the same workout adding the DJ some how makes Miami's workout session less effective

Nobody is questioning whether or not this was a good idea, but the idea that this video somehow signifies anything in terms of the team's performance on the field is wishful thinking at best.

Seriously who said that? Does spinning everything ever get old for you? Its a ***ing DJ in a weight room, not awesome , not gonna make a difference in recruiting, just something novel. So please, just enjoy the ***ing DJ in the ***ing weight room.

And you can notice these guys have 'brought' into it, they haven't quit on Golden even after the blowout to UL they all wanted to get better and beat the Shiit outta UL in the opener different from shannon's teams in the past. This team has that hunger and desire to be great.

These kids look excited and they seem to be working extremely hard. We have seen several videos of these guys putting in work on their own to get better. Regardless of how you mopes feel, the football players have bought into what Al has to offer and I for one am very excited to see these kids perform this season.

@hstokes lets use the common opponent test to answer your question. In 2012 UM played Notre Dame and was physically man handle by the Irish in route to a blowout win by them. Then in the sames season's championship game Notre Dame was literally physically beaten into submission by Bama. So let me answer your rhetorical question for you, the score board doesn't lie nor does the game film on the unfortunate fact that Bama's S&C program is more effective.

Look I am all for having fun as well as using strife to create comradery, however I would have preferred a piece of propaganda about UM using cutting edge methods to improve player performance. But when FSU can say to a recruit hey come to FSU and we will train you using methods that half the NFL copied from us and continue to come to us for advice about or you can go to miami an dance around the weight room. An oh by the way here is the latest list of our NFL draftees right next to our New NC Crystal Ball trophy. That is why I am concerned about this club weightroom atmosphere.

At the end of the day I wish the best for these kids and hope this new energy translates to on the field performance. For those of us that have played both HS and College we know S&C can be a bear, an anything to switch things up to improve performance is a welcome addition if it works.

Go Canes

in 2012 did we have the same players as in 2014 - nope
did we use a DJ in the weightroom that year?- nope
Whats the point Nos?

Everybody knows that if you have a DJ, it decreases muscle growth during a workout.

Wait a minute... So if we disagree with the popular consensus, we are mopes? My goodness... You can't voice an opinion around here... I still stand by my opinion... If this was "marketing" strategy was presented in another setting like after practice/weight lifting, I would have a totally different opinion...

I don't think it is a good idea... I get what he is trying to do but if defeat doesn't motivate you nothing will... Yea a live DJ is fun but how is that creating discipline? I don't need a live DJ to hype me up after a disappointing finish... Sometimes you have to stick with the old school... I understand the idea but this isn't what our team needs... Just my opinion... It's becoming more of a party than a workout...

Wow... One day with a DJ in the weight room and we get responses like this. I can guarantee that the DJ being there will have ZERO negative impact on the team. Games won't be lost because a DJ was in the weight room for a brief time at 5:30 am on a random June day. There are so many legitimate criticisms that can be leveled against Golden and staff but a DJ for one day is an issue??? Come on.

It's okay for college football players to have fun every once in a while.

I never said they couldn't have fun however a DJ during practice is a bit much... Like I said, it's my opinion... I don't really see a benefit in doing this... Practice is meant to become more discipline and focused in hopes of improving upon our skills... I just think a DJ is a bit much... I mean we had lots of fun last year playing in nail biters with against mediocre teams and getting whooped by teams worth something... I saw the videos of the players dancing during practice and having fun lady year... We haven't earned the right to take it easy yet... I just don't see the benefit in a DJ...

And get over your feelings... I'm not criticizing Golden... I just don't see the benefits of a DJ at practice...

But it isn't even practice. You repeat the word practice over and over. It was a weightlifting session at 5:30 am in the offseason. This wasn't the week of a game. This wasn't fall practice.

Perhaps you should get over your feelings and objectively see that a DJ at a 5:30 am workout session has no bearing on winning or losing football games, discipline, focus, etc... It was allowing the kids a small amount of fun during the offseason, that is it.

Practice/weight lifting, conditioning, etc. its the same thing... You're the one commenting about criticizing Al... Like that's the only incentive for opposing a few of his methods... If I want to criticize Al, I'll do it... I don't need a loophole to do so... I have repeatedly stated I understand what he was trying to do but that doesn't mean I have to agree with it... Being "objective" doesn't mean to agree with the masses... Like I said, get over your feelings man... Just my opinion... That's what the thread is for...

Exactly. It's known as the Paranos Workout Paradox. Flashing lights and pumping music during early morning workouts results in muscle mass loss.

How many true freshman and sophomores started for Miami in 2012?
How many true freshman and sophomores started for Alabama in 2012?

In the 2 deep on defense Miami played 14 freshman and sophomores. So you expect those kids to be physically developed enough as true freshman and true sophomores to dominate a veteran team like Notre Dame. Please stop living in a fantasy world, no 18 year old fresh out of high school is dominating anybody and thats the facts.

Here are the Notre Dame and Miami depth charts for that game.

There's a BIG difference between a weight-lifting program that incorporates a DJ and flashing lights as a normal part of the conditioning routine, and a one time, fun, surprise pump-up session for the team during a 5:30 AM workout.
