This staff seem to be doing everything they can to make the atmosphere at The U amazing. I don't know how it will translate onto the field but little things like this could really go a long way in building chemistry as well as in recruiting.

There is some great momentum going now and a 10 win season could take The U to another level.

1. No more NCAA investigation
2. New facilities
3. Stadium upgrades
4. Improved record every year for the past 3 seasons

The only thing missing is double digit wins and owning the costal. If those 2 things can happen the sky is the limit for the program.

Past two seasons. 6-6 was not an improvement over the record of the previous coach.

When your getting your asses handed to you by teams with a pulse this stuff gives the appearance that your running a soft program.

Momentum is a powerful thing. Shannon was building it and then really lost it from the Champs bowl on into the 2010 season and the recruiting greatly suffered and the team quit on him. Here, Golden has a chance to keep building it and I hope he succeeds. I rooted Shannon and I root for Golden and I hope Golden comes out this year like a gangbuster.

Please stop living in the past. The only thing that matters right now is this team under AL GOLDEN, what happened during the previous staff is pointless.

Al Golden record
2011 6-6 (3-5 ACC)
2012 7-5 (5-3 ACC)
2013 9-4 (5-3 ACC)

Total Record 22-15 (13-11 ACC)

Regardless of how you might feel, this teams record has improved every year under Golden.

Now if you want to look at the past staff here you go.

Randy Shannon record
2007 5-7 (2-6 ACC)
2008 7-6 (4-4 ACC)
2009 9-4 (5-3 ACC)
2010 7-6 (5-3 ACC)

Total record 28-23 (16-16 ACC)

The first 3 years of Randy vs Al, Al has a better record and has a more complete roster.

Al 3 year total record 22-15 (13-11 ACC)
  • During his first season 8 guys were suspended due to NCAA violations (7 of the 8 were starters)
  • 5 underclassmen bolted for the NFL
  • 3 year NCAA investigation
  • After his first season, 8 offensive starters graduated, declared early for the draft, or were suspended from the team.

Randy 3 year total record 21-17 (11-13 ACC)
  • No NCAA investigation
  • No massive suspensions due to violations
  • No mass exodus of underclassmen to the NFL draft.

I like it! its different. we see all these different schools trying to get creative with their motivational tactics & recruiting pitches..well, let's be honest, what's more "Miami" than this? & I'm sure it helps pump them up, considering they're doing this at 5:30am

Hstokes1447, I corrected your improved record three years in a row comment. Golden started 6-6, he improved to 7-5, then improved to 9-4. That's two years of improvement, not three. As for me living bin the past, or how I feel - I have no idea what you are talking about. Simply pointing out that Golden has improved the record two years in a row, not three.

My guess is he took issue with the fact that you turned something positive into a negative over a really insignificant detail. Not really a big deal that year with all the suspensions and chaos.

+1

It's the way to get a strong bond & unity on and off the field. I'm pleased to see the guys grinding hard.

  • [*]No NCAA investigation
We just had one player murdered and the FIU brawl when he took over. Not as big as the NCAA investigation, but still significant for recruiting purposes. How many moms do you think wanted their kid at thug u after those incidents?
[*]No massive suspensions due to violations
Fair enough, but the mass suspensions were 1 game for most except Vernon. 1 player does not make a team. 1 game does not make a season, especially when that team only won 2 games on the year.
[*]No mass exodus of underclassmen to the NFL draft.
The mass exodus Golden faced were Randy's players. So Randy was crap, but you credit a mass exodus of talent in favor of Golden without giving any credit to Randy for it. Secondly, Golden got the mass exodus, because those players were still here for him to use at least once. Randy didn't even get that, because our mass exodus happened the years before he took over.

It's fine to be positive about Golden, but don't spin facts and disregard other facts just to make your point look better. You forgot to mention Randy had just as many year's of improvement as Golden did. Lets see how this season goes before you crown him.
