It will probably be McCord, Perryman and Kirby
With Armbrister, Grace, Young and Owens as depth

I agree with this group except i can see them redshirting young.
Honestly, everyone got so upset about Figs but that was based on potential. Even
Ambrister has done more on the field. lol

Wow, that is a major blow to a position that was looking like a strong point. Heres to hoping Grace has been in the weight room. I do not think he will ever be all ACC but I can see TA being good, not great, but solid. This is a great chance for Kirby to step up big time as well.

Starters - Perryman, Kirby, Armbrister
2 Deep - Grace, Owens, Young

McCord should get a lot of time at LB too. Between inevitable injuries and just trying to keep guys fresh, I'd be surprised if any of the freshman redshirt. Wouldn't be surprised if they give Mike Smith, or some of the bigger Safeties like Carter or Gayot some reps at LB during fall practice just as insurance.

You think terry mccray gets any time
Eh...maybe. I actually think we are OK with Kirby, Perryman, Armbristrer, and McCord with Grace and Owens definitely in the mix. We might not have the luxury of redshirting Young. It will be very interesting to see how McCray and Smith do in fall camp.

I dont think McCray sees any real time. Maybe special teams? Lookin forward to his development tho. He'll be good. I want to see McCord on the field as much as possible. He makes things happen. Him, Grace and Perryman would be cool. Would also like to see Young rotated in to see what hes got. Got a good feeling about him.

Besides perryman and grace who else starts , who do we have in that position

This is the same question I have too, i wonder if they will move Harris and McCord to LB. How many lbs are we going to take this year? We need at least 2 and Maybe 3.

Armbrister has significant playing time under his belt, was co-starter with figs and is much bigger and stronger than last year.... Although losing figs sucks, I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say we will be fine without him.

Also very encouraged by what Owens and Grace are showing. IMO, Kirby has more to prove on the other side and we should be more concerned with what he brings.

Depth and not being able to redshirt youngin's is what hurts from losing those two!

WLB: Kirby
MLB: Perryman
SLB: Grace

McCord: the Jack or stand-up DE: the position S. Green played last year.

What has fig done since he has been here. Looks like Tarzan at practice but in the games?? Y'all acting like he started multiple games last year. Jermaine grace was coming on in the spring and he could move to WLB. Kirby cam move to strong if need be. Armbrister and owens can play that spot....

I see so many posters claiming that McCord "makes things happen," is a stud, and the like. but outside of being a 3rd down specialist whoe had a couple admittedly big sacks, he was largely a non-factor. Thus far, it's been a lot more hype than actual production.

I'm not knocking him, but pointing this out, because the expectations for him appear to be divorced from reality. and I really do not think he has the lateral movement to play linebacker (beyond serving as a rush-the-qb specialist).

Figs was hyped for laying the wood in practice and making some plays in games. But he also had a lot of ME's in those games. Also he was often out with repeat shoulder issues after wrecking it in high school with an injury. I don't think he would have held up for an entire season. Blue did nothing just hurts for practice depth.

I thought McCord was still raw/undersized last year but was progressing early on. He made a big impact with plays against GT, UF, USF in the beginning of the season but then fell off towards the end. My guess as to why being that he was worn out due to being undersized still.

If he can get back to his "sack forced fumble" play than that will be huge for improving our def.

I would put C. Thomas at the Jack along with AQM, Harris, and Jackson and let them battle it out.

Three man race at SLB between Armbrister, McCord, Owens

Perryman, Young, Smith at MLB

Kirby, Grace, McCray at WLB

We have plenty of DL

Chickillo, Pierre, Kamalu, Moore, Hamilton, King, Heurtelou, Wyche, Moten, Jenkins, Brown

C. Thomas was recruited by Saban to be a 3-4 OLB. No reason he shouldn't do the same here.

I'm just hoping this forces the coaches hand to keep us in a 4-3 most of the time.
