Lifewallet Recruiting Buzz 6/29

My honest opinion.... I think the whole "top 5" B.S. (which I never believed) came from all the hype about "best summer ever"(which I think most of, if not ALL of our fans misinterpreted)(can't really blame them too much) and also "best DL class ever"(which we still have time for).

So if you look at all the recruits who visited during the summer WITH THE EXPECTATIONS that some of the highly touted recruits would commit soon after and all the DL we are after.... Topple that with the hype that alot of insiders(not really the ones on this site) put out.... It's kinda easy to think this class could be top 5. It's kinda like our fans expected us to be as hot as the gaytors currently are. Which is a bit understandable. So OPTICS wise, yeah it seems like a disappointing class so far but I think we're getting the guys that Mario and staff really wants and know they can develop. A top 10 class would be beyond great for me. I mean, when you put into account we're not even a top 30 football team 🤷🏾‍♂️

He signed the #16 class in 2022 literally by himself after being hired 2 weeks before signing day. I genuinely don’t understand how adult men can be this emotional and clueless at the same time. It’s fascinating to watch.
#7
#12 (2020 and landed 3 five stars)
#6

Those were his numbers are Oregon.

#16 by himself
#7 after going 5-7. We had the #3 class til Cormani decided to flip

We will be better this year, to the point where Mario can stop selling the vision and start selling the next step of results.

None of this matters in the NIL era. Or it matters far less.

If funding has dried up or failed to keep pace we’re going to start signing 2011 Al Golden type classes perpetually.

It's their way of admitting they don't know **** at all and hedging like y'all say the Gabby kid does. None of them know **** but some second hand crap and people keep these clowns employed.
You’ve been on cis a long time, surprised you think this way and that so many liked/agreed with your post

I don't see any Ricky Knight stuff going on so I guess that means he's projected to be a Nole but it would be a nice surprise if he chose the U today

Fwiw, the difference bw where we landed with the 2023 class and top 5 is minimal with regard to rivals ratings totals. I’d argue that there is a bigger divide of top 3 vs 5-10.
This. Obviously, it's better to have the #10 class than the #20 class but the gap between 1 and 10 is huge. The gap between 1- 5 is significant. Pulling top 10 classes isn't going to put you on equal footing with Alabama or Georgia. You're still going to have a significant overall talent disadvantage. this is where x factors like QB play and coaching scheme can help bridge the gap. A generational type talent at QB can make up for a lot of the gap in talent at other positions. It's why teams go so hard for 5 star quarterbacks even though they have such a high risk of failure.

The biggest question is what record gets us a top 10 class? 8-4? 9-3? 10-2? We got 3 BIG games 4 if you include the bowl game. (We winning over six with healthy team) 3 regular season big games TEXAS A&M, CLEMSON & FSU .. we cannot go 0-3 in those games 1-2 at least to show some change 2-1 in those games would help tremendously. 3-0 we just having a fairytale season. We all worried bout the recruiting but really what we need to be worried bout is this current roster grinding this summer? and praying we don’t have injuries. At this point it has been told countless times we wanna see it on the field.

My hope for the season 9-3, 10-3 with a bowl win
What I think gonna happen 8-4 during the season bowl game at that point will be a toss up depending how we closed the season

Guess we'll find out if our NIL has dried up
Not sure if any of you heard Mike Ryan on Lebby he said that Rado hired a head of fundraising from Air Force one of 3 schools with no NIL and that UM was very behind. Rado prioritized the facility and now NIL is playing catch-up.

Couple that with a basically silent Ruiz I’m sure we have some dollars for the top kids we want but I’d bet right now at least we are struggling to compete with the mid tier kids we keep missing on

That would contradict what we have been told by numerous posters in the know here…

Been said many times by others, but I think it is less about the record and more how the team looks. I mean, don't get me wrong... the record does matter to an extent but if Miami goes 9-3 and the 3 losses are to Clemson, FSU and aTm by an average of 30 pts each that will be viewed worse than going 8-4 and losing to those same teams in competitive games and another close loss to some other team.

Now I don't think that first scenario is likely to happen, but I think it gets the point across - that if we show stark improvement and potential, I think that is more important than the actual record.

This is a moot point being made by people who don’t understand the structure. Fundraising for the university through donor societies is different than NIL. If he hired someone with no NIL experience to run a collective of some sort then this would make more sense as a complaint. Not saying every move we make is perfect but this one is barking up the wrong tree.
