Let's talk Tyriq McCord

He's a deadly pass rusher, but I don't think he's versatile enough yet to be the best player on D. Not a complete enough game.

I'll tell ya what makes my boot cut Wranglers get snug, though - You see the jump McCord made in a year after U Tough? Imagine him and AQM coming off the edge next season.

How about that interception when he saw he was not going to get to the QB and he positioned himself to knock the pass down. I had to watch that over again several times.

The DE's coming through this program in the next couple of years is going to be insane

The development of him has been outstanding, I still thought he was a year away before making a true impact but he's coming along nicely. With that said, it's still early and the true test starts now with this Dline.

We might be getting to the point where we have too many good players on D to pick our best one. DP, Fig, AQM, McCord, Bush after he recovers completely, Howard by end of year and then others. Gentlemen we are getting back to what we have been waiting for.

LULZ at the morons who gave up on him after watching the Raising Canes new faces video last year. UM fans are notorious for their stupidity, but the guys who thought McCord (or any of the other young players on last year's D) wasn't going to get exponentially better over time when they were skewering D'Onofrio all year showed their true depravity and lack of football knowledge last year.

how many turnovers has he been a part of this year? 2 Ints? 1 tip turning into an INT for someone else? 1 sack-forced fumble-recoverd fumble? am i missing anything else?

And that's just in 4 games... Crazy how good this kid is going to be.

Right on, this needed to be said in all respects, fans are fans never gonna change.

Perryman is the best player on D, but McCord is probably most improved. Not a knock on his talent because he was a true freshman last year, but he has arrived.

IMO the best player on the defense is Curtis Porter followed closely by Denzel and Thurston. Our whole defense is playing great ball though.

McCord and AQM coming off the edge with Chad Thomas and Demetrius Jackson being groomed. McCord isn't the best defensive player on the team but he's definitely becoming a monster. This defense in another couple years and a few more reloading recruiting classes is going to be scary good for years.

Couldn't even begin to think about "best player" on D. They're all feeding off one another. It's fun to watch.
