Leonard Taylor committing 8/6

Manny has been considered the smartest guy in the building even when Richt was there. That’s why Flake went all in for him the moment Richt retired. I know it’s cool to clown him and he earned it last year , but dude is a very intelligent football guy. He’s far from a ceo type. Right when he got involved with the d last year it instantly improved.

I didn’t like the hire when it was made because I knew manny was green and would take his lumps early , I actually posted this. But one thing I know is he’s not hard headed and stuck in his ways , which is a huge part of being a good coach. He’s about winning hence why he canned Penos and scrapped the pro style.

His fate depends on him learning from his early failures fast enough, it seems like he’s figuring some **** out, but nothing matters until the season starts. We’ll see.

ive said it before -- manny is better as an X and O guy than Dabo is. hes done an impressive job with the D as a DC and even last year when he stepped in to help Blake. started to look like his normal miami defenses. he has to now learn to be a CEO. hes def doing whatever it takes to win no matter what. he wont let his ego get in the way either otherwise he would've left blake to do what he wants on D and gave dan another year bc he picked him out. he didnt and went to a completely diff offense.

lashlee might finally give the defense breathing room. Plus this 2020 class is a different breed.

He gets a mulligan for Enos and letting Enos hire his staff without Manny's involvement. We can chalk that up as an expensive learning mistake by a first time head coach. I am glad he made the changes he did, but the reality is he had no choice but to make those changes. I am not going to give him a gold star for making those changes, even if I like who he hired in their place.

I think he may not have wanted much more staff overhaul after one year, but Patke's ST unit cost us significantly in multiple games even if you excuse Baxa. He should have and could have upgraded that spot but didn't. We will see if he has the ability to fire one of "his guys", whether that is Patke, Baker, etc. With that said, it is a young staff, I hope they keep growing, we win 10+ games, and none of that is an issue.

I would make Telly an on field coach next year to run ST, let Banda coach “strikers” as they are all his boys anyway. That puts an extra recruiter on staff with Field who knows everyone and their mama in dade.

he's not a dumb coach. He has to learn how to get out ahead. He makes adjustments as well as anyone. how many times has he made great half time adjustments? hes also not afraid to make staff changes which is what we always wanted. I didnt want him but this is his first HC gig.

Side note, if we get LT, it will be because of Manny.
I thought he had no say in who they brought on offense?? Didnt he get pushed to the side a bit while higher powers got Lashlee?

And now young grasshopper, you are finally starting to understand what I've been saying for months. Diaz is finally addressing the problems that have plagued Miami going back to Larry Coker. It takes more than 1 season to get out of 20 year deep hole. You don't even have to go that far back to see the root of the problem. Al Golden recruited to build a Big 10 team. No one would dispute that. Mark Richt recruited to build a SEC team. Miamis athletes are good enough that with a SEC-lite style offense, we won 10 games but it was a pale imitation and would never hold up. However, on the defensive side, Diaz was recruiting a Miami defense. You had speed and length. It's no surprise that the defense was really the only thing carrying the program. Now Diaz is finally applying that philosophy to offense. Miami will be built on filthy, filthy speed and aggression. He also brought in a team of closers to rebuild the wall around the state of Miami. Will he ever be a good game day coach? Maybe, maybe not. But it doesn't really matter. Larry Coker proved that a coach can be a dunce as long as he has a loaded team.
I'm way more hopeful now then I was a month ago

Him and the Palmetto kids were considered UF locks for awhile now, a few months ago things changed. They’re all finally realizing it now. I originally posted in May don’t believe the hype. They might get Collins but they won’t get much more, Taylor has starting trending our way at that point.

I also said UF has issues inside their recruiting room and to expect changes after this cycle.
what happened to make things change? what exactly are they finally realizing? Is this a turning point for the Canes or did Florida F*** it up that bad?

There’s a lot of things but I’ll give one example of Miami improving their recruiting.

Let’s say recruit A is being recruited hard , recruit B is a backup plan. The staff talks to both kids and recruits both kids , Recruit A commits then the staff just goes awol on b, but also goes awol on recruit A since he’s already in the boat. So now we’re ignoring both, then recruit a gets butthurt and decommits , then we show up at recruit b’s house after months like” sup my guy”.

I’ve also heard stories about a highly rated recruit showing up with a highly rated uncommitted recruit, pretty much helping the staff recruit said kid. The staff **** near ignored the committed kid, it was like he wasn’t even there. He stayed committed but it really upset the family.

Little things like this, building relationships and sticking to it and grinding the entire time. I’ve posted in years past I was told “ they’re clueless “. I think they’re finally getting this part , also improving other areas of the recruiting game.

It’s a relationships business.

I mean the above is relationships/recruiting 101.

The fact that the light has only gone recently is somewhat concerning but at least it did.

Are they doing anything well beyond the above?

I misunderstood the question , I’m half asleep. You meant palmetto?

UF screwed things up , some things went down with Brashard that rubbed a lot of folks wrong, UF got arrogant with the palmetto kids ( counted eggs before hatching), which also rubbed folks wrong. UF has issues in their recruiting dept as I’ve mentioned , there will be changes. But to Miami’s defense they busted their *** with Taylor. It was a true team effort. They earned this one.

As for the UF side of things @Liberty City El knows better. I know he mentioned the arrogance being one of the issues.

I was just told in May there was issues and they blew it.
