Perryman is likely gone... So who do we have next year????

Grace and Figs who aren't even playing????? Kirby who hasn't done jack?

If we still had 44, terry n Paul, I would feel better...

But next year we have 0 impact, solid proven LBs... That **** TE will continue to run free

First, let's not confuse recruiting with happy with our LB play. They are different things.

Second, let me understand this because you make very little sense. Are you aware that the following guys were 3 starts?

Paul (3 Star Recruit)
Terry (3 Star Recruit)
E. Johnson (3 Star Recruit)

Are you aware that these guys were all 3 stars?

You know who else was a 3 Star? Denzel Perryman.

Third, Denzel hasn't declared for the draft and you have no clue what is going in terms of impact LBs (whatever this means?).

Watch for Figs, Kirby and Grace next year. They will get more burn and show what they can do.

This guy is obviously a microwave fan. He didn't know Owens, our best lb recruit since Perryman, was even a linebacker because he looked it up on Rivals where he is listed as a DB. He expects everyone to be Morgan and Williams and Vilma right away because he probably didn't watch their whole career, just their highlights.

I went to school with Vilma, as an RA in Hecht in the summer where he stayed, the football ga's trainers raved about him as a freshman and yes he had an impact as a Freshman

We have linebackers, I think that is evident.

Just not great ones..., yet

If we are primarily 3-4, then I think this class is solid... If 4-3 still then it's lacking...

If we run a 3-4, wouldn't that mean we need more LBs (4 over 3)?

2011: Perryman
2012: Blue and Kirby
2013: Figs and Grace
2014: Owens, Young, Smith, Thomas and McCray

That's why our Smaller DEs/Olbs in this class would be adequate for a 3-4... If we were playing primarily 4-3... Smith, Thomas, etc are DEs not OLBS....

Pretty much. Also, he is not aware of which recruits were 3 stars and which were not.

We don't have proven depth at LB...

52 just had a baby... Rumors are that he is gone

We lost 3 LBs who had in game experience and contributed... That's 3 experienced LBs, 2 were All ACC LBs of the week last year..

We don't have many LBs with experience coming back, hence unproven...

While I agree it takes time to develop some LBs, we do not have the depth next year to allow that

We could be starting 3 inexperienced LBs next year, that's scary...

Kirby has played, Figs has played, Armbrister has played. The only ones who haven't are Grace and Blue. They've atleast seen action. Perryman has had a decent year but he'd benefit from an extra year. Figs, Kirby, and Perryman should be our 3 next year. Yes they don't have big game experience, but they'll all be sophomores and some with two spring camps under their belts. Not overly worried about depth.

you sound stupid, Miami needs more talent and depth at LB but Perryman isnt the only quality LB on this team.

Raphael Kirby, Jermaine Grace, Alex Figueroa, and Tyriq McCord all have all conference potential, none of them are "JAGS"

D'onofrio prefers "no mental errors" over talent that's why a lot of the talent dont play.

Also half of the LBs on this team outside of Denzel Perryman, Jimmy Gaines, Tyrone Cornelius, and Kelvin Cain were recruited by Al Golden, so if those guys are all JAGS, you are going to be saying the samething in a couple years about the LB recruits coming in this recruiting class.

I think it's a legit concern. I'm not going to say anyone's a jag just yet, but Kirby really hasn't stood out and he is probably our highest rated/sought after LB. At the same point in their careers, guys like Spence, CMac, and Perryman were already making a big impact. We haven't seen that from any of the guys on the roster yet. Blue has been beat out by Figs and Armbrister already. You look at the guys here and the guys committed and....forget having a Vilma or Morgan, I don't think we have a Spence, I'm not even sure we have another Perryman. If we do they haven't played like it.

And of all the guys committed, the only one with any buzz is Owens. I know Perryman was a 3 star, but there was a lot of buzz around him. A lot of people knew he was going to be a player kinda like the buzz around Owens. I'm not sensing that from the other guys we have committed

I think OP is right to be concerned and very surprised all the message board heroes disparaging him feel that way considering the last three games our LBs have looked awful including perryman who can't cover a stone.

Not to be a star *****, but we need some legit four star linebackers in this class. I actually like the ones coming in, but think we need two more bc of lack of depth and current ineptitude.

As for if its too early, many positions can make plays and show promise as freshman and sophs. Why are we giving that position a free pass?

I think this pretty much sums up why everyone thinks this thread is BS. Kirby is not a JAG. Has been banged up and will produce next year, I believe that.

Figs is a fcking true freshman. It's not very often a true freshman comes in and puts up elite #'s like he is expecting. So what he has been hyped up, he played/practiced hard over the summer and the staff sees his ability. Doesn't mean he's the going to put in a Vilma senior season in his true fresh season.

Everyone would like "Elite" LB's and every other position. We all know this.

Also, I really doubt Smith will be a DE.

Elite players make a difference.

Coley, Duke, Tyriq, AQM, Deon Bush (last year), Howard... those all were recruited players and all contributed early.

Sean Spence was elite. After him, who is the last elite LB we've had?

We need one. Hope some of these guys we're recruiting pan out...

Man, I don't know what you're sniffing. Morgan came here as a running back and like dude Cane4life said, Williams was moved to FB before a spot opened up at LB.

Figs is a freakin True Frosh. How many of the cats you named came in and played like an AA their True Frosh year?
Grace will most likely be great.

Players need time to develop. Not sure what you're expecting.

Kirby is a true sophomore who missed half his freshman season with injuries. Reports are he looks good in practice but he is behind a senior starter. I remember another linebacker who looked totally lost for a couple of years, transferred to Kansas State and by his RS Junior year was an all american. Patience is a virtue.
