Blake James, despite being a garbage AD has more experience in collegiate athletics than Alonzo. I could at least sell him being in that spot, based on resume.

What “collegiate athletics experience” for Flake James are you referring to?

Running the failed Hurricane Club?

Running the ticket office and repeatedly failing to sell tickets?

Serving as AD at high school-caliber University of Maine?

Saying Flake James has “collegiate athletics experience” is like saying Ryan Leaf has NFL QB experience.

Epic failure doesn’t count as experience.

Caring and being a "Miami Guy" isn't enough though. AH doesn't have collegiate connections, his NFL connections are almost meaningless. Remember, NFL guys are coming to colleges for ideas, it's the college game that is really serving as the laboratory for innovation right now. Lots of new challenges for Zo, this is a lazy, "Miami Guy" move. Don't be shocked if nothing changes, especially if Diaz fails and gets fired. I doubt he will be able to make the decision on Manny's successor. Until the AD situation is fixed, or Miami at least tries to fix it, it's rearranging deck chairs.

I can't wait until Alonzo makes a stupid decision, and justifies it with some "We're Miami" nonsense. You know it would happen.

AH doesn’t have collegiate connections? As the director of scouting? You realize his job was centered around building relationships with those at college programs to learn everything about the kids they have on their team. He has to understand what kind of program they’re coming from... from the scheme they run, how well regarded their position coach is, what is their coordinator doing, what kind of weight room program they have, disciplinary systems in place, etc etc etc. He’s probably got a relationship and understanding of every legit position coach, coordinator, and HC in the P5 and understands what they have in place that’s helping them develop players and who is good at it and what systems do and don’t work.

In that role you spend more time focusing on your college connections than you do NFL. The draft is the life support of your franchise.

Amen! Glad somebody can explain it to the masses

Hurricane Club has set records for donation and we've had our highest season ticket holder numbers ever the last few years.

Blake needs to at minimum be removed from football operations, but he's raised money and season ticket numbers under his tenure.
