Those were Navy SEALS. Just saying.

Ken is a **** good coach, in a place where he can do that and get away with it. You aren't winning in any conference worth a **** with that stuff, unless everyone around you completely craps themselves. It's not an accident that any time Miami was anywhere near competent, GT struggled. Miami should be looking towards someone with the organizational skills to win or at least compete in a major conference. I've said it once, and I'll say it again. BILL CLARK. He gives off that Jimmy vibe, a guy that is no nonsense, is a builder and has a good eye for talent. Dude had his program taken away after he built it, he stuck around, BUILT IT BACK UP and kept it rolling. You need that kind of toughness at Miami.

We deserve to have a joke of a program, because this fanbase and the decision makers continue to fall for the same crap. There are dozens of high quality, dynamic, experienced administrators that can do the job that Blake James can't do. Instead of actually going out and hiring a quality AD and letting them do the job, we keep doing the "Miami Guy Bro" thing. I love Zo as an NFL personnel guy, but this "Hire him to oversee a college football program" thing is stupid. He has no experience in dealing with the unique stew of crap that is college football. Will he be responsible for raising football specific funds? Will he have a hand in football specific marketing?

UMiami needs someone that has the ability to fill those roles, someone that can set the tone, and bring in some new ideas. Zo, like a lot of our older alumni are extremely stubborn, hence the whole reliance on the "State of Miami", when it has become obvious that Miami needs to get back to recruiting nationally, to supplement the guys that can be landed locally. This program will NEVER get anywhere if it continues to be the Habsburg dynasty of college football programs. The institutional inbreeding needs to end, NOW. No other school do you have most of the department staff be former students and interns that never left. It's insane.
Wrong. We don't need a genius and this is not rocket science. We need someone smart, with football knowledge, connections in football world ciruits and credibility. AH has plenty of.

Credibility in the NFL. No experience working in college. NONE. By the way, even though he's well thought of, he doesn't have the cache in college that you people think. The Cleveland Browns are a crap show, and that's his last job. He was in GB, but there was institutional dysfunction there too.

Get off the "Miami Guy Bro" crap, and this thing gets fixed.

There are hundreds of Miami guys but AH is qualified. He was NFL scout and dealt with college football systems and coaches for long time. What was Black James credentials for God's sake? The fact that he is a Miami guy should not disqualify him from being a great candidate.

Blake James, despite being a garbage AD has more experience in collegiate athletics than Alonzo. I could at least sell him being in that spot, based on resume. He wasn't my first choice for AD(My preferred choice bailed because his wife hated living in Miami, he's having a nice run at TTU though) Sometimes, you make a rational hire and it fails. You don't follow that up by hiring someone with even less of a chance of success. Would this fanbase be blowing Alonzo for this job, if he wasn't a Miami letterwinner? No. The entire enterprise is putting a piece of toilet paper on an open wound. I'm sick of "He's a Miami guy" being the only qualification that matters. That's how we got Manny. That's how Miami ended up with Randy Shannon. In a way, that's how Richt was pitched.

The easiest, most effective way of repairing this program is to fire Blake, hire a legit AD and give him the resources and support needed to put a competitive product on the field. That requires people who give a crap, and as we've seen no one seems to give a crap.

Maybe. That's not what we need now. We need to repair football which is and has been the lifeline of athletics at Miami.

A strong AD repairs football, as that is where the money is at **** near every school in the country. With hiring an AD, you are also ensuring that the ENTIRE DEPARTMENT runs well. In other words, you have a person that will go out and find a legit guy to succeed Coach L when he leaves, meaning the the basketball program continues to be competitive. Hiring Zo accomplishes nothing that a legitimate AD doesn't, and a legit AD is inherently more valuable.

That's your own opinion. Trusting our inept president or BOT to perform a nationwide AD search and come up with the best candidate is a fantasy. Someone who is good enough and connected enough who cares and who has vested interest in AH is a much more realistic option.

Caring and being a "Miami Guy" isn't enough though. AH doesn't have collegiate connections, his NFL connections are almost meaningless. Remember, NFL guys are coming to colleges for ideas, it's the college game that is really serving as the laboratory for innovation right now. Lots of new challenges for Zo, this is a lazy, "Miami Guy" move. Don't be shocked if nothing changes, especially if Diaz fails and gets fired. I doubt he will be able to make the decision on Manny's successor. Until the AD situation is fixed, or Miami at least tries to fix it, it's rearranging deck chairs.

I can't wait until Alonzo makes a stupid decision, and justifies it with some "We're Miami" nonsense. You know it would happen.

Unless this position has legit power... i.e. to fire Manny, to remove the Jarren Williams/N’Kosi Perry cancers from the program... this is just lame PR window dressing by Flake James.

Gotta love his FB profile pic.
