Latest on Devonta Smith

Around the time of The Opening the buzz was Smith was a done deal to Alabama.
Perhaps he is but on the Miami side of things, in addition to what Ivins has been reporting as of late, people don't think he's a done deal.
On the Hurricanes side of things they continue to work the you committed to Mark Richt once already in the past why not again. Miami is also pushing a bigger need at the position. Alabama has several WRs committed and several high-profile players on the roster.
My prediction continues to be the Crimson Tide but Miami sources have believed for awhile they could split with Alabama on Jerry Jeudy and Devonta Smith and that's what they're still looking to do.

I remember Jimmy D. Smith coming on once in a while at Caneinsider (I was cane84 over there). His information was always solid. He also called Valentine to LSU months before anyone else did. Guy's legit and I'll take his word for it with Smith.

A couple people I've talked to, the biggest tussle for him seems to be between Alabama and Miami, not as much of LSU, Bama and Miami.
It's going to take product on the field and seeing proof of a rejuvenated LSU passing offense to really have a bearing on him and LSU.

Yeah. Brandon Odoi ran that site to the ground an alienated/banned certain posters on Caneinsider. If we could eliminate the trolls on this forum and have proper dialogue with one another, it would be the perfect storm. But yeah, Pete and his crew is on a whole different level compared to other forums.

I think we have a real shot with this kid. If it was Bama I think he would have committed already. The early PT angle for us is a big one. Its also the last year we will be able to pitch it really. We're gonna have nice depth at WR after this 17' class. Stack em up! Just like the old days!

Would love it if staff stayed on Jeudy. He is unstoppable (wins in every single one on one matchup in camp I've seen) and has NFL megastar written all over him. The #1 Wr in my eyes, followed closely by Grimes. Harley is above Smith regardless of the stars and should be a take before him.

With a good year and Kaaya lighting it up and possibly staying for a 4th, maybe there is a chance at a flip.
