Kevin Beard

You want to give a coach credit for developing a finished product, go for it but I’m going to judge a coach based on how well he actually coaches a player. You do you though. We should have extended big Joe because Simeon Barrow played ao well for us.
You said our QB room has been pathetic. I'm looking at our QB room and saw a Heisman contender and best qb in the country last season, and now a potential 1st rounder and one of top returning QBs in the country in Beck.

I’m talking about the guys our QB coach is responsible for. That point is blatantly obvious and everyone else who read that understood it . You want to argue with someone about something. I don’t give a ****. Argue with one of the other professional internet arguers here. I don’t care enough to go back in forth for twelves pages.

Good point, I think a Qb coach responsible for Cam Ward and Carson Beck being Hurricanes is delivering some solid results as of now. Hopefully Nickel continues that.

I don't understand when people say things like " We need a portal WR because we can't go into the season with this level of talent/inexperience"

Well, we got a seemingly talented portal WR from Houston who knew Dawson and has system and his play was average at best.

Getting a guy unfamiliar with the standard set by the staff, minimal cohesion with the QB, minimal knowledge of the playbook, and unfamiliar with his teammates is **** near the same level of risk as going into the season with the group we already have.

Some positions can be plug and play depending on the dedication of the player and their position coach. Wr isn't really one of them.

Where are all of the examples of WRs who have transferred to a new team and went crazy and went first round or had an all American season?

Maybe I missed them. Point them out. Apologize in advance.

Depends on the player I.e if Jeremiah smith wants to come home he’s a take regardless…

The Houston kid was a bad portal pick up mostly on hindsight because all it did was eat reps that would have gone to jojo, Carr or chance which would have been invaluable now. Cam would have made those young kids look great and built confidence… Beck is still a very good college QB and I still have faith he will put the ball in their hands.

I think we the Houston kid and the Marshall DE Alston were both probably costly investments when someone like Bryant or Lightfoot should have been playing. Seems like we learned from that and not just taking guys and risking younger talented players transferring or stunting their development

That's the thing. Most talent of Jeremiah's ilk are not even in the portal. If he was he would be a guy that could possibly have the success I'm questioning.

Yet, that's a hypothetical situation that hasn't and most likely will not happen.
I'm Just waiting on the guys that keep clamoring that we need a portal WR to show me the success rate of this because I don't see it.

I'm willing to admit if I'm blind if someone could point it out to me.

That is a crazy bar, but succesful portal WRs are abundant just to make a few.

Adonai Mitchell
Jordan Addison
Tez Walker
Antwane Wells
Keon Coleman
Ricky Pearsall
Isaiah Bond
Jacorey Brooks
Jameson Williams
Jayden Reed

Which Justin Jefferson? That mane from Louisiana and went to LSU. Unless you're talking about someone else. My bad.

Keon Coleman, thank you. That's a good one.

Yet this list is underwhelming when our expectations are as high as they are. This kind of proves my point.

How many of these types are even in the portal each cycle opening? One each cycle? So maybe should say/type " We need the very best portal WR we can get". Cause when I read " we need a portal WR because we lack experience" and their not listing the talent we expect to poach then it just looks dumb af to me.

Idk why Jefferson is on that list. Every one of those WRs would have been in the top 2. If you think otherwise Idk what you are watching.

There's no easy answer. If Mario feels like Beard isn't cutting it, then he's gotta do what he's gotta do.

Obviously, he should only make a move if he's going to bring in someone better. But that's easier than it sounds.

For starters, who makes the hire? Dawson or Mario?

As far as the job, there's practically no returning production. The room lost its top 4 guys and we're going to be looking for at least one WR in the spring. Plus, the QB is a transfer, who's coming off an elbow injury.

Not exactly a great situation to walk into.

Then there's recruiting. We've already lost Cooney. If we go the rumored NFL route, the new guy will have to build recruiting relationships from scratch. Beard's rumored spot is Syracuse. Syracuse already leads for Russell. So that'll be a fight.

There's a lot going on here.
Cooney is addition by subtraction

is he leaving cause Mario has an upgrade lined up, or because Beard has a better opportunity elsewhere?

If mario wanted to keep him, i assume we would.

Beard seems to love it here. And his resume doesnt exactly scream that he's ready to be an OC.

So what's the scoop?
Cmon bruh if you whiffing at wr Mario will replace you but it will look like they took another job. Most of the time he’s pushing them out but doesn’t want to do it disrespectfully, that way the media and public are with Miami? can’t make Miami look bad or damage any relationships, so do it the respectful way.

JG should never have seen snaps over Jojo but beard was a success here in his second stint. the receiver room improved. JG is just too emotional to be playing football at a high level. he was talking **** all year to guys on the field and eventually it came back to bite him in the *** like it always does. the cuse incident was just karma for his dumbass. hes been talking **** to guys all year.
And was never held accountable

The WR themselves aren't underwhelming. The ODDs are underwhelming. 2 thousand+ players in the portal each cycle. The portal been around since 2018. The list i expect should have hundreds of players on it.

Yet since 2018 and thousands of portal players, hundreds of transfers, we can barely list 10 who made an impact. That sucks bro.

With that said, who is our game changing portal WR we expect to recruit this next cycle? Do we have a top 3?

I threw 11 names at you from the last couple of years off the top of my head. We might not get a first round WR, but a Day 2 WR would still be an upgrade when we have only had 1 since 2012. If the criteria is Jeremiah Smith or bust you are bound to be disappointed.

I agree.

All I'm asking is for the posters who keep saying that we need to get a guy, to actually list the guy we need to get and why we need to get him.

Just adding players is how you end up with guys like Kirk who don't even play and is a waste of friggin space. We only need to portal for absolutely proven upgrades. Not just cause a guy is an upperclassmen and played a few games before.
