Kamalu Moved To DT

Just seen in the herald golden said he has moved kamalu to dt and he will compete with olsen pierre and moten, and he moved jelani to sde with chick and chad.

I like the move because it will bring more pass rush to the starting lineup.

Nothing has changed there.

He's still a 3-4 DE and a 4-3 DT. Since we are primarily a 3-4 team, nothing about Kamalu's position has changed.

Not really true. He rarely if ever lined up as a 4-3 DT. Even in nickel situations last year he played as a 4-3 end. He would come in for Chick on occasions. I don't remember him replacing a DT in those situations. Chick was more likely to slide over and Kamalu would play end.

It has changed. In this defense the sde stays on the edge in thd 4-3 and 3-4 just like chick. Kamalu only played on the edge last year now he will be inside more.

Exactly. Kamalu backed up Chick. He played that position except unlike Chick who did on occasion play 4-3 DT in passing situations Kamalu didn't. He was a DE in the 3-4 and the 4-3. He never played Pierre's position.

I love the move. Get him some experience inside, that way next season the blow of losing OP will not be bad at all. It also spells the end for Corey King.
 
Chad will push Jelani out of any possible playing time unless Jelani plays like a man possessed.

A 4-3 under (single gap front) of McCord at Sam, Chick at strong side 5, Pierre at the 1 tech nose, Kamalu at the 3 tech, and AQM as the Leo would be amazing. **** the Okie front (2-gap 3-4).

On third down Chick and Kamalu would go inside, Pierre would come out, and both AQM and McCord would line up as Wide 9 DEs.

But that would be too obvious, easy, and simple for these coaches
 
No issues at building more depth at the position we are the most desperate at. Slice it how you want but there isn't much downside to this move

Interesting if true. I thought he was made for his spot and didn't see that coming. I suppose they like chick/chad more than they like Pierre/moten. I doubt Hamilton is a major factor either way.
 
I don't care if they change the color of the toothpaste from last year; just friggin change something from that tissue paper line last year.

Chick is so big now, he should be playing inside more, but I think I read somewhere he slimmed down some this season, so not sure. With that said, not sure why people really thought Moten was going to make a significant impact this early. DT is rarely a spot someone just comes in and dominates as a freshman.

Chick is lighter than last year.
