Kalen Deboer

I think they will be multiple..feature the vertical pass game while sprinkling in some inside zone runs. That offense will continue to be very explosive...definitely will improve schematically on O.

They don’t have the QB for the vertical passing game.

I’m sure he’ll scheme around it, but it’s not going to look like what they did with Michael ***** or Derek Carr.

He’s great. You don’t win everywhere you go by just being lucky but we’re talking about a guy who never had a top 30 recruiting class. Even at Washington. You give a guy the resources and voila, he recruits like Saban. They’ve got money and a coach that quarterbacks actually want to play for now. Maybe the rumors of Alabama’s demise were premature

"Everywhere you go"? Look DeBoer may end up being the greatest coach in history, but his three HC jobs have been...

1. Five years in Division II
2. Two years at Fresno State (the OTHER FSU) where he won 2/3 of the time.
3. Two FANTASTIC years at Washington, no qualifications, no "ifs" "ands" or "buts". Great two years.

Maybe DeBoer keeps the Alabama ship cruising, maybe he runs aground. Will be fascinating to watch.

He has won every where he’s coached so far. I didn’t say he won national championships at every school he’s been at. You can discount his success at small programs but isn’t that where most coaches get their start?

Bama has the #1 or #2 ranked class in the country right now & the majority of them are National recruits...

What are yall talking about? lol

“According to a graphic from Pro Football Focus, Milroe has shown to be the best deep ball passer in the nation. He’s tossed 10 touchdown passes to one interception on throws of 20+ yards. Milroe has a passer rating of 131.8 and a 98.7 passing grade” - this was Oct 27.

He was given the #5 grade on QB rating. DeBoer has a ton to work with there.

This is what happens when you have the administration aligned with the football program. **** the entire state knows that their bread and butter is Alabama football. There is a collective effort to keep them on top. It’s a lot of $$$ behind them. Miami has won championships with talent and coaching alone. Imagine the program with the administration and some big $$$ finally behind us.

His depth of target was pretty good last yr. Throws a pretty deep ball to me. Won plenty games throwing the ball down field last yr. You remember his struggles in the beginning of the season. By the middle of the season he looked like a different qb.

Uhhh...

He was .667 at Fresno State. And if I "discount his success at small programs", then that leaves him with TWO very admittedly fantastic years at Washington.

Can we schedule his crowning ceremony for, say, five years from now?

I once knew a guy who went 24-1 in HIS first two years at a Power 5 school...

correct.

But i think its a step down inw r talent from UW.

I dont know who Bama has at wr for the first time in awhile..I dont think they had the 1 break out guy...i think the wash transfer will be the #1?.

You Bama/Cane fans can help me out on that one.

But yea Milroe strength was his deep ball. So thats enough for their new hc to work with.

I’m curious to see what Alabama’s offense looks like this year. I thought they’d slip in recruiting but that doesn’t appear to be the case either.
If it’s anything like Washington’s. Their offense will be HUMMING with the right QB.

Milroe best attribute is his vertical passing, thats what got Bama offense back on track after a slow start..He isn’t penix tho. He doesn’t process as well but i think deboer and more reps will improve his game alot

Edit:Just seen someone post a stat about it my bad lol

True only difference is this guys comes with a proven track record as HC and one time OC. With an unlimited budget where as the other guy. Had some OC experience, but not Power 5 HC.

Right now they are not missing a beat in recruiting.

2024 - Ryan Williams and Rico Scott are good, but both are freshmen who just enrolled in May. Jameer Grimsley immediately transferred to Hogtown. Bubba Hampton is their only remaining 2024 WR signee with even SPRING practice experience, unless you count Caleb Odom, who may play TE. As you mentioned, Germie Bernard transferred to Alabama in January after being at Washington for 1 year and Michigan State before that.

2023 - Jalen Hale and Jaren Hamilton (a big nothing in 2023) and Cole Adams (another big nothing in 2023) have 1 year of experience each. Malik Benson split for F$U.

2022 - Emmanuel Henderson (a third big nothing in 2023) and Kendrick Law and Kobe Prentice have 2 years of experience. Aaron Anderson split for LSU, Shazz Preston went to Tulane, and this Tyler Harrell guy ended up at some place called Miami.

2021 - Every HS recruit at WR has transferred out. Ja'Corey Brooks to Louisville, Agiye Hall to UCF, JoJo Earle to TCU, Christian Leary to GaTech.

2020 - Every HS recruit at WR has transferred out. Thaiu Jones-Bell to Nowhere State, Traeshon Holden to Oregon, Javon Baker to UCF.

That means Alabama's top returning WRs are Kobe Prentice (18 catches in 2023), Kendrick Law (15 catches), and Jalen Hale (5 catches). Plus a transfer kid who spent a year at Washington with DeBoer.

OOF...

So? Will any of those players be on the field in 2024? Didn't think so.

And I just described the WR corps. It is...very NON-Alabama (at least in recent memory). Maybe the 2024 signees will be great. Maybe they will need a year.

Maybe DeBoer will coach the **** out of them. Maybe not. How about we see what happens in the games before crowning him?

Fair. I'd just like to see what happens first. Some of the porsters on this board have a nasty habit of developing man-crushes on coaches with a couple years of success and limited track records.
