are you trolling bro? Seriously that was encouraging to you? You average saftey would have at least tried to separate the receiver from the ball. You can't knock Kacy for that play. He actually read the play and sniffed it out pre snap which was awesome. That was a big time throw. The BC QB put that in a small window and threaded the needle.
If that ball was high or thrown a second late than Rogers has that INT. He read that route from the jump but the QB made a big time throw to squeeze the ball in between defenders
Even if all of that was true, what about the complete whiff of a tackle? Are we supposed to give him a pass there too?
/I know, don't feed the troll, but I couldn't resist.
That play was actually very encouraging. His pre-snap read was very good. He knew that route was coming. He was just a hair short of making that play. Those are the things you want to see out of your players.
Not a knock on anyone but it takes practice to watch film. You guys missed a glaring problem which allowed that play to produce yards.
Mcghee did not read the play at all. The receiver tipped his route early into that play. Mcgee needed to cut off the inside of the field and force the receiver to the sidelines. After the snap, Mcgee took a outside release. Once he did that the play was over. Also it would have been nice for Mcgee to at least get a jam. With a Jam, Kacy Rogers is no longer a hair late but now "On time"
So if anyone blew that play it was Mcgee
This has the be the most discouraging video I've seen of the game so far.
Making that play was all about football instincts and it's quite apparent that Rodgers hardly has any. And you can't teach instincts.
I have to believe D'onofrio and Golden see this and look for Bush or someone else quickly cause Rodgers is not the answer.
Reading the play pre-snap is very encouraging. So I am not really understanding why you feel that lacks football instincts. The mental aspect of football is more important than physical ability. They are are a lot of big, fast and aggressive players who are not good football players because they lack the mental understanding of the game.
He was a hair short of making a huge play. If that ball was thrown a little higher or slower, Kacy Rogers would have been all over that play. It is cool to get the "big Hit" but that is something that coaches do not teach. Coaches want players to make plays.
You also have to remember that this is the first time most of our players have had to be "the man". Most have been role players and never had to be the one who leads. You will have mistakes as they learn and adjust to being s full time starter. What I say in that film was very encouraging. The next time he probably makes that play.
So, do you think you are not doing the same? Rushing the judgement... After all, it ´s Kacy first start and you are claiming to have seeing him in "extensive action"?!?I was one of the people who thought some rushed to judgement on KC after the FSU play last year, but after seeing him in extensive action he has a **** ton of work to do just to be serviceable. This is by far the worst S tandem I have seen at UM in decades.
And he's the son of an NFL coach, you would think he would have the instincts to go along with the physical attributes.
Some of the critics need to learn the game. I dont care about criticism but I do care of criticisms that assume that the fans know more than the coaches. The corners don't touch the receivers because they arent supposed to, not because we know better than players/coaches. They are trying to show press and get to cover 3. Corners have deep third and need to get there fast not play with the receivers. That is rodgers play to make. He didnt make some great presnap read he just did what the defense asked. The next step would be to not just do what the x/o says but make a play on the receiver or ball. This is not a catastrophic error but they are going to play bush if rodgers offers nothing more than this because a responsible freshman can learn the x/o. If you dont add anything else you are replaceable.
That´s where IMO you are rushing the judgment. So, do you think you are not doing the same? Rushing the judgement... No I don't feel like I'm rushing to judgment, kid looks lost at times and as someone else pointed out, the game is just moving too fast for him. I would much rather see Deon Bush in there he was the better player and it wasn't close IMO.
Agree... typical play of a guy thinking too much. That was a very DVD-like play to me.
He makes the right read, but is too indecisive as to either making a play on the ball or the man. His indecision gets him there a second too late to do either.
This. If it wasn´t for the mediocre roster managment we suffered for years, a player like Kacy would have time to learn a new position.our starting safeties are mediocre to soft, irrespective of past legacies
Rodgers needs to learn on the job, and if he doesn't, the youngsters may takeover
Highsmith not a factor
VT needs to step it up
The only 'anchoring' that Cook did was acting like an anchor holding onto to the ballcarrier's foot(after getting run over)to slow them down until someone with actual talent made the tackle.
You can't knock Kacy for that play. He actually read the play and sniffed it out pre snap which was awesome. That was a big time throw. The BC QB put that in a small window and threaded the needle.

Watching that, I just can't help but think what Sean Taylor would have done to that poor kid...
Ed Reed gets 6 there.
Rettig never looked anywhere but that spot. Rodgers was even locked on the area, just never did anything about it.
