Kaaya Impressing

I'm all for this kid getting a real chance to win the job but we sure as **** better not burn a redshirt and then reinstate Williams as the starter after a month. We should either ride or die with Kaaya and burn the season before we burn a redshirt because throwing him to the fire for a month and then benching him would probably do more long term damage to him (and the program) than it's worth. I'd sooner start an underperforming (and I'm not predicting that he actually will underperform) Olsen if this staff still subconsciously has a woodrow about playing Williams this year. It's not like Alfred is on the hot seat (contrary to what some might wish) and is handcuffed on this.

Brad looks like he's ready to go now. Looks confident. Big kid. Definitely looks the part. Look forward to seeing how he does when the lights come on.

Just praying that one or both of these kids can play great for us. We are long overdue for a solid qb.

I agree that a redshirt should not be burned capriciously. Yet, a little consistency would be nice. A real chance to win the job was given to Olsen, by all accounts and his spring "game" performance Williams was in the lead for the job. Would starting and then benching an underperforming Olsen do more damage to him?

How about we wait to see how this all plays out?

I was just describing a worst case scenario. In relation to having to bench Olsen, I'm more comfortable taking that risk with his development than a true freshman. But yeah, let's hope this is all moot and (no offense to the kid) playing Williams is an afterthought. I just don't want to enter next season coming off a mediocre season that Williams "saved" with another QB battle between a developmentally damaged Kaaya and Olsen- a QB that couldn't beat out a true freshman now and only stuck around because Kaaya looked bad in September this year. At that point I may jump on the Rosier bandwagon.

I just get a feeling that Brad will be named the starter. I think he has the goods and the staff believes in him.

The only way this will happen is if he absolutely blows ppl out of the water. I unfortunately don't trust golden to name him the starter if it's even a little close between him and Olsen.

Neither Olsen or Kaaya have game experience. The better QB in camp will be the starter.

If Kaaya starts vs Lville our program is in DEEP SCHIT.

How can you impress with no pads on?

When do #15 jerseys hit the rack?

Also, like the Gus Edwards news. The back field is strong!

So we're just going to disregard any spring practices/games and other offseason activities that haven't happened yet?

If he can get through the spring as the best QB WITH and WITHOUT pads, he deserves the spot regardless.

Kaaya didn't do a ******* thing during spring. He wasn't even here. Spring practice is over kid.

We are full on summer conditioning right now. Pads wont be donned again until official summer practice begins. Once that happens a fair assessment can be made.

If we have to start a true frosh vs Looserville we are fooked this season!!!

Kaaya has a higher ceiling then Olsen and is a more natural passer imo. I just question if he's going to get a fair shot at the job, if it's even a little bit close I think Golden gives it to Olsen. Kaaya is gunna have to really play well but I think he has a better chance at stepping his play up then Olsen does.

Only way Kaaya starts day 1 is if he is no doubt the better QB then Olsen. No way can you start a True Frosh on the road opening game unless you undoubtedly think he is better. If it's neck and neck the nod will go to Olsen and I agree.

agree of course. if its very close olsen will get the nod. i am not a coach and really don;t know how these things go. maybe guys who have played football can tell but is it easy for coaches to see in practice if a guy is much better than the other guy? fans are always calling for the backup but most of the time coaches know the starter is a lot better don't they? point is if kaaya is better he will show out in practice and the coaches will give him the nod. otherwise it was either really close or he wasn't as good.
