Just heard the scrimmage is canceled

Not blaming him for the weather, just the poor planning...

For a coach that portrays planning and preparation, having a practice or scrimmage in the afternoons in South Florida is just flat out dumb...
Very astute observation by you in blaming Al Golden for weather. I guess we've reached the limit on things to blame on Seantrel Henderson...wait D$ change the thread title to,"Seantrel misses another scrimmage"!

we will have a game every other weekend in middle of day, sounds good to try to simulate actual game play and heat. sounds like a good plan

Thank you bbcane! Is it not that obvious that he wants the kids to get up early, have a normal day, have lunch, and prepare for it like it was a 'real' game? Are you guys kidding me? We play in the rain, we play in the heat, we need to practice in the same environment. Unfortunately this rain also had lightning and forced us to cancel the rest of the scrimmage. But to try to come down on AG is just mind numbing!!! SMH

Not to mention, in a real game scenario, we would have gone inside and waited for the storm to pass. They could have done it today, but they had CanesFest and they weren't going to cancel the event just to get more reps in at the scrimmage.

An article on another site says that they waited about an hour.

alright, serious question. no trolling.

do you guys think its better to go the golden route or shannon route on this?

would you rather hold the scrimmage in the afternoon and have it called off, or would you rather have the scrimmage earlier in the morning to avoid the weather?

i know it's easy to make fun of and that it sounds ridiculous to have a scrimmage at 5am, but it wasn't a dumb move by shannon to get scrimmages in early. like another poster said, we only have a certain amount of practices allowed by NCAA rules. gotta take advantage of them when we have them.

i think it might be a good idea to move the scrimmages to a different time to avoid the 2pm storms that roll through every day. maybe have them earlier (not 5am early, but maybe around 9am) or push them a bit later (5pm).

it especially hurts us when we are expecting pt from a ton of true freshies who NEED as many reps as they can get in the fall. missing out on a scrimmage hurts, regardless of whether we would have been getting reports about it or not.

With Randy practice was at 5am on tuesdays and wednesdays. Scrimmages were usually at night but never at 5/6 am.

The whole point of this scrimmage was to duplicate a game day situation, not get practice reps. Waking up, meal, game day ready, then game. You don't duplicate that at 6am. If we didn't have Canesfest right after, this isn't even being talked about right now.

right! Al is better than to let a practice/scrimmage time slip away with poor planning.
