...I have this hunch that Gus Bus will take over at RB some time soon. He's big, fast, and is better physically than anyone we have right now. I think he has the ability to be a special RB, which I don't think our other guys do. If he gets his shot and proves to be reliable (not a fumbler), he will take the job and eat up most of the reps toward the end of the season. Dallas is better suited to be a change of pace/3rd down back.

Golden said the reason Edwards had not seen much work (one carry for no yards at North Carolina) since tallying 166 yards and three touchdowns on 22 carries against Savannah State and USF four weeks ago is because Duke Johnson and Dallas Crawford "were holding his reps off."

"Gus is ready for this now," Golden said. "He's going to be in the mix and is definitely going to be carrying the ball for us on Saturday."

I hope he does chise, because what we have right now. With Duke out, imo will not be able to carry the load that is going to be needed here on out.

I'm not so sure he's got the playbook down for two reasons:

1) the time he missed during fall camp

2) he's probably been on the scout team for these last few weeks

He'll get a chance for sure but I'm not sure he can be trusted just yet.

I really wish Clements would do well. I like the kid but when I see him run I don't feel he is shifty at all. He does have some speed though.

Not so fast my friend. If Clements can stay healthy. I think he goes out with a BANG!

Guys has been around for ages, and is all cane, but he has cement in his shoes. Can't see him holding Edwards back with out coaches help.

I agree. I think he offers something that DC and EC doesn't have (power and speed). I know DC carried a bunch against UNC but I think I would give Edwards a bunch of first half carries to see what he can do.

Eduardo Clements is another physical back that is going to be useful but the coaches have been careful w/ his injury......

here is the rest of that article i posted this part is about Clements:

Clements, who has 126 yards on 20 carries this season after returning from offseason surgery to repair two herniated disks in his neck, wasn’t available for interviews Monday. But he posted enough entries on Twitter to reflect his intensity.

“All I Ever Wanted Was A Chance,” Clements tweeted. “I Got People That [Are] Depending On Me & I Can’t Give Up!”

And this: “Long As I Got Air In My Lungs I’m Grinding!”

Crawford called Clements “a strong downhill runner who is “always going to keep his legs moving forward” and is “great in pass protection. I don’t think there’s a blitz that can get him.”

Completely agree, Dallas is playing great but they're different types. Gus film is sick and Jimbo wanted him badly. Before the NCAA BS with him this fall, coaches were comparing him to Yeldon

I'd love for you to be right, but I've seen nothing out of Gus that says more than situational back. At least this year.

Dude was succumbing to arm tackles from Savannah State players.

He was 4th string. For a reason. If he were better right now than any of the other three guys ahead if him he would have been playing. They were obviously hoping that they could spot him this season as a short yardage back but continuous failure in those situations killed that idea.

Dallas Crawford is going to get most of the carries.... i think he's going to have a big season the rest of the way.

But the coaches say Gus is ready and i'll ride w/ the notion that he's ready so when he gets the ball we'll see how he looks.

Reminds of another NYC running back we had when I was in school- Stephen Mc Guire

meh I doubt it. I'm not ****ting on the kids future potential, I just dont think he is ready right now

he looks lanky and awkward changing direction and if he has to stop in the backfield, forget it
