July 29, 2023 BBQ

They paid Gus Malzahn 80 million to kick rocks. Auburn been had money. Do y’all not remember they bought Cam Newton?

They’ve been playing the bag game for over 20 years that I know of first hand!

Corey Lemoire
Robinson Therezie
I could go on and on. They will eventually make their way back into south Florida for a player or two.

Their boosters will spend whatever is needed to take down Saban.

Carlton Davis. He locked it down early too. Must have gotten a big *** bag.

You’re not wrong. Maybe the wording isn’t the best for not just your comment, but mine and others…and yet the fact of the matter is as of today, July 29th…our class is mid. It’s hard to argue otherwise. Auburn will jump us shortly with pretty much any commit (that’s the quality they’re working with) and yet have four less commits.

17th is what it’ll be. That’s not a good class as it stands, but thankfully we’re in it for a few other blue chips that hopefully pop soon. Three solid adds changes the hole trajectory from 17th to top 8, but for whatever reason, we haven’t locked down enough blue chips (YET). What that reason is…is up for interpretation. Money, whiffs, bad luck, losing games…seems to vary on the recruit or source I guess.

But look at the teams ahead of us and objectively say we should be and NEED TO BE ahead of at least 5-6 (arguably more) if we plan on continuing the talent acquisition train, enough of it to move towards relevance again and build on last year.

Are you worried about not getting the elite top 5 classes you were lead to believe were in the bag (no pun intended)?

If things don’t happen soon there’s gonna be a great game of leap frog being played with us being the frog getting jumped …but there’s always August so who knows.Gotta hope Mario has this under control

I’ll leave y’all with these stats just in case you really doubted how important the summer is for securing commitments.

247Composite Commitments

32 of Top 50 (64%)
71 of the Top 100 (71%)
107 of the top 150 (71.3%)
151 of the Top 200 (75.5%)
194 of the Top 250 (77.6%)

Four more announcements by August 1 (I’m not even counting a few more already scheduled after August 1 like Bolden, Stone or Franklin, nor am I counting those that just pop). By August 1, 79.2% of top 250 kids will be committed to school.

If things don’t change quickly (and I still think they will)…get your spatula out, because it’s going to be flip season.

I’m with you. We may end up ok as you explained but as I’ve said, I was waiting til August 1st to see where we’re at. August 1st is 2 1/2 days away now so if we’re sitting where we’re at now, then this cycle certainly hasn’t gone as I had hoped. I didn’t expect a top 5 class but I did hope for us to at least be hovering around 10 by August 1st with more on the DT front.

We heard all about how great July would be now we’re hearing wait and see how great August will be….well I’m old and can go anytime so please make this old man happy and give him something to hope for..

Yeah, the money shows up when they actually like their coach. Those boosters turn off the phones and turn on their coach quicker than anybody. But when they are backing them, they can buy any class they want. I mean at their best they would get some top eight top 12 type classes but Freeze knows how to play the game so they are definitely gonna steal some players from Bama in Georgia. He will be a pain in their ***.
You know what, I'm actually not mad at that at all lol. At least someone can step up and get in-between Bama and Georgia just taking whoever they want.

I live in Detroit and hate this **** hole but the pizza is right.

If you get down to Orlando, there are two locations of this place called SoDough Square, the guy is from Detroit and makes a fantastic pizza.

You learn something new every day - when I went to SoDough, they explained that the pans they use for the pizza were originally auto assembly line trays and that's what made the original "Detroit-style pizza" unique. This place uses those same assembly-line pans, as well as Detroit-area ingredients. They even sell Faygo.

Yeah man... As much as I've gotten used to recruiting, this cycle has just been nothing less than weird. I'm not disappointed in the class but I honestly did expect us to have a much better class at this point. I think everyone did.

Carlton Davis. He locked it down early too. Must have gotten a big *** bag.

I knew there was another big one I missed. I’m sure many more.
Isnt Junior rosegreen from down there as well.

I had a friend get 20K to sign for basketball back in 2002 and he didn’t have the grades so he went JUCO. I knew someone linked to AAU putting money in hands for their b-ball program for over 15 years.

I can’t imagine what football was doing.

**** they paid Cam’s dad (church) 200K so you know they played the game way back before NIL and now they can do it legally.

100% he’s sneaky

Blood, keeping it 100, I don’t think he’s sneaky at all. He’s pretty blatant. Lol. I dreaded the day he came back to P5 football b/c I knew he was $EC bound. It’s already bad enough we gotta deal w/ F$U, UF in our territory; then u have UGA, O$U, & Bama always sticking their noses sniffing around The State; but, now Auburn is another sneaky mutha fcka we gotta deal w/ Freeze.
