JUCO punter Sam Irwin Hill

***** better be a 5 star or walk on, we cant be giving away scholly's like that

You guys remember when Bosher was our punter? I don't think he gave up any td's. What I do remember about Bosher is not just his leg, but him demolishing returners. Not just getting in the way and slowing them down but bringing the lumber and destroying guys.

You might not think a scholarship to a kicker is a waste if our only scholarship kicker gets cheap shotted by a smart opposing special teams coach leaving us with some walk on who line drives it 30 yards at a time, shanks it out of bounds 15 yards down field, or is to slow and gets his kick blocked all the time.

Great kickers are big time weapons, just ask FSU.

IIRC, Bosher saved a couple of TD's during his senior year. Particularly @OSU i think, where we took two to the house as well.

Definitely correct, he didn't tackle like a kicker, he wanted to hit you and not let you gain any extra yardage.

In his 4 years he had 18 total tackles, 15 of them being solo. pretty **** impressive I think.

I really think a lot of people are underating how important it is to have a good punter and kicker. Field position is HUGE. I think AG and co. have really solidified our special teams units since being here.

Remember Colt David of LSU, seems they have a dynamic punter/special teams combo on a daily basis.

If only we could get some of those Aussie rules football refs with the bowler hats, then I'd be really happy

You guys seem to forget that we are taking quite a few guys who will likely count toward last year's numbers. All the Jucos, plus early entries like Figueroa will probably count against open scholarships for 2012, and probably won't count toward the 15 or so that Golden said we'll count in the 2013 class. I don't recall if any HS seniors are coming in early, but they would likely count toward the 2012 numbers, not 2013.

That's why I think we might take considerably more than the 15-16 that Golden said we'll take for 2013. That's my guess.

Bosher's first year punting here, he had 9 shanks. Nobody remembers that because he became very good later. But, he was a shankomatic early on. That's also why you don't throw guys away based on early performance.
