Josh Pate take on Mario

What if in 2025 Miami beats Notre Dame Florida and Florida State but manages to blow two games to crappy ACC teams again? 10-2 regular season but no ACC championship game.

Is that better or worse than losing to all 3 of those teams but otherwise beating all the other ACC opponents and playing for a conference title?

I know it’s not really on topic but what ever, it’s the off season. Stupid conversations like this MUST take place.
Great season for this roster imo, two b2b 10win seasons would be great for recruitment and the perception of our program under mario

Im expecting 8wins, maybe 9 depending on our spring portal additions

**** homie! Tell us how u REALLY FEEL about the man! U have the right screen name! Shiiiyittt
it is not that I dislike Mario, it is moreso, I dislike the way the seasons played out, the moving goalposts and the ineptness of the university in hiring and mindset.

Year 4: ACC Championship/Playoffs

Their are no In told you sos. When Mario got the job I posted nothing. During his first year I was optimistic. But to sit here and say who else could have accomplished a 22-16 record after 3 years is pathetic. I realize that class rankings mean more to some of you than CFP rankings, but he has done less with more until further notice.
Again, our program was a complete dumpster fire when Mario took over in 2022. Is there a coach in college football that could have turned our program around overnight? The answer is probably no. If you expected quick results, then you clearly have been blind to have bad we've been the last 15-20 years. We obviously all wanted quick results, but that was just so unrealistic. There is no denying that Mario is building this program to a level we haven't been to in a while. Go take a look at Michigan and Clemson's journey. It might calm you down

I would argue what Mario did in 2022 as far as the coaches he hired and the recruits he brought in turned it into a bigger dumpster fire than it already was

Saying he was slowly building something insinuates he made hires and brought in guys that took time but pretty much all the moves he initially made flamed out immediately

The losses in 2022, 2023 and then he adapted but then still folded with playoffs on the line were some pretty atrocious moments. MTSU? Blown off the field in 2022? Never Kneel Gate while undefeated taking the air out of our season? 21-Mario against Cuse? … yeah man - no other coach could achieve such levels

I don't hate Mario. I hate the inability to have thought provoking discussion. Explain to me how either of those situations with the invent of the transfer portal and UNLIMITED roster movement are comparable. The only thing Mario has shown is the ability to get more out of Manny's players than he could.

We were an average defense (at least) away from not only making the playoffs, but making a run. You wanna know what Mario did, he turned a weakness into a strength, as our DB room is probably the best in the ACC. He gutted almost everyone on the defensive staff, and got great coaches to join. I get you're unhappy with the process, but just let it play out lol. The foundation for a National championship team will always start from high school recruiting, not the portal. The portal is nice for filling some short term gaps in your roster. Mario will tell you that this is the most talented roster he's probably ever had as a head coach, so I'm excited for us to take that next step

Who is responsible for having a less than average defense? Who hired the incompetent defensive staff? The foundation starts with high school, but where did Mario find players for the DB overhaul? Mario also told me he inherited the best QB room in the country in 2022 so forgive if I ignore coach speak. The truth of the matter is most of Mario's failures are self induced. I'm less interested in hearing he fixed so and so issue and more interested in how he is changing the processes that lead to those initial failures.

Are we allowed to see these kids actually play football here before we say the room is the best in the ACC? You've said that multiple times. I agree it should be much improved (it couldn't be worse if you and I were starting), but I need to see somebody break up one (1) pass or make a half (0.5) tackle before I say it's some massive strength.

Again, those initial hires were largely due to the fact that he inherited a dumpster fire. The top guys he wanted to hire took one look at our talent and overall state of our program, and all quickly said no. Mario had no choice but to settle on guys. Mario attracted high level coaches on the defensive side of the ball this offseason because coaches around the county are finally starting to see the progression of this program. The national perception and respect around the program has significantly improved since he’s taken over. I’m still waiting for you to tell me active coaches that could come into this program and do a better job of acquiring
talent and pulling together NIL money than Mario. That list is extremely small. Idk why I even bother arguing with you because we could win 10 national championships in a row and you’d still complain and find ways to bash this program

Honestly, I don’t even care that much about the game day crap. He doesn’t call any plays so his actual contribution on game day is essentially when we take timeouts. Which he sucks at but I can live with. The bigger issue is we’re on our third DC in four years. I like that he doesn’t keep failing coaches around but eventually you have to hire someone who doesn’t fail.
He's actually trying to turn this thing around the right way n thats all i ask for at this point, if we can turn into a consistent winner we'll eventually get our shot at the big one and at least w Mario you know he'll do everything and fire anyone he has to to get us there. I feel much better about the future of UM football then i did when Manny and his BIO HAZARD culture was in charge.

Unfortunately, there was no magic bullet for the defense last season. It wasn't good, and the injuries in the back end compounded the lack of talent already. Bain was never quite Bain after the hamstring, and that didn't help.

The 2 safeties were about as bad as you will see at tackling at the college level. There was nothing they could do with that group.

I saw the same DC the year before field a competent defense as he had 4 veteran pretty talented DB's.

The main coaching issue was not being able to address the concern, and/or overestimating what you had prior to the season. That certainly was not the case this offseason.
That magic bullet was to eliminate all the god**** stunts and defensive lineman, dropping defensive lineman into coverage…….that might’ve help

This looks contagious.

After 3 years of having the most expensive coaching staff and biggest NiL budget in the ACC. While Clemson and FSU are down. Let’s take a look at his accomplishments:

ACC Titles - 0
ACC Champ game appearances - 0
Playoff Appearances - 0
Bowl games - 2
Bowl Wins - 0
We got blown out by MSTU I knew then we would never win anything of significance with him as the head coach
