Josh Pate take on Mario

I had to stop reading the thread but lemme guess something about Mario’s recruiting, slurpers and mopes, assistant hirings

I’m sure it’s not just the same stuff regurgitated over and over again
I was watching a show on video game systems and I am pretty sure people here have given Mario Cristobal credit for Nintendo at some point... Mopes disagree...

Mad about the 10 wins? - No
Mad about blowing out UF and FSU? - No

Mad about choking away the #1 offense in the country, opportunity to play for the ACC Championship, Playoff opportunity and then lose to Iowa State in the Bowl Game? - Yes -- people are not satisfied with that ending.
People upset about meaningless bowl games like come on

It exposed Emory's limitations and no one was injured.

**** near as close to a W as there can possibly be.

NFG about non playoff bowl games. Nada.

What if in 2025 Miami beats Notre Dame Florida and Florida State but manages to blow two games to crappy ACC teams again? 10-2 regular season but no ACC championship game.

Is that better or worse than losing to all 3 of those teams but otherwise beating all the other ACC opponents and playing for a conference title?

I know it’s not really on topic but what ever, it’s the off season. Stupid conversations like this MUST take place.
That is probably much more likely than it is to win every game we should and only lose to ND and UF for example.

It’s also much more on brand for us to go 7-1/8-0 and then 1-3/0-4 in November.

This would be 100% on brand. It is also my exact prediction for 2025.

It's just sad to read a thread full of goal post moving, narrative bending, and a mountain of BS excuses.

The coaching the first 2 seasons was inexcusable and terrible. I dont give a flying **** about all that " culture changing, we're not other schools, the landscape is different. We over rated our talent " BS excuses yall come up with. It's absolutely positively unadulterated BS. Please stop.

Mario is a decent coach, I hesitate to say good. He has to prove it on the field and that's it. When he does, the criticism and reproach will simmer. Until then there is no excuse for what we've seen thus far.

In a conference, any competent coach should win 10 games at Miami, he has 2 failures and a choke job blowing a chance at the playoffs and we are to throw a parade...

His best attribute is lowering the expectations at Miami.

And to answer Pate's question -- Overrated because Miami administration thinks he is the only football coach in the world that can be the head coach at Miami.
**** homie! Tell us how u REALLY FEEL about the man! U have the right screen name! Shiiiyittt

The issues were called out here while changes could be made: DL help and DBs and once the season came, that was our doom. Also running the same trio out there getting picked on between LB, S and CB was just insanity.
U have a great point bro but what if the ones they trotted out there were the best they had🤷🏾‍♂️? Not trying to be funny but askin a serious question

The question actually should be does losing to uf and notre dame matter if you make the playoffs? To me that’s a tough question because you recruit directly against Uf. That win wasn’t as impactful as it should’ve been. But that wasn’t on Miami truly. And you couldn’t end with more of a thud than Ohio State did but they got a second chance we didn’t.

With our luck Notre Dame will end up being like a 7-5 team and we continue to have no wins against quality opponents

Love that when there’s a coach on staff that isn’t working out he gets rid of their ***. Hate the fact that he’s one of the worst game day coaches I’ve ever seen.
Honestly, I don’t even care that much about the game day crap. He doesn’t call any plays so his actual contribution on game day is essentially when we take timeouts. Which he sucks at but I can live with. The bigger issue is we’re on our third DC in four years. I like that he doesn’t keep failing coaches around but eventually you have to hire someone who doesn’t fail.

After 3 years of having the most expensive coaching staff and biggest NiL budget in the ACC. While Clemson and FSU are down. Let’s take a look at his accomplishments:

ACC Titles - 0
ACC Champ game appearances - 0
Playoff Appearances - 0
Bowl games - 2
Bowl Wins - 0
Dabo was 18-15 his first three seasons at Clemson(08’ was only half year) so it happens. Not all jobs are created equally. For instance, Ryan Day walked into about as perfect of a scenario as you can get at Ohio St. following Urban’s departure. The bottom line is that we are improving and getting better every year and almost made the playoff last season. Anything less than an ACC championship and playoff berth in 25’ would be a disappointment, IMO.

People always underestimate how damaged our program when Mario took over. Mario has completely cleaned up our culture and flipped the roster significantly. He's pretty much addressed every issues that's come up. He hired one of the best Oc's in college football, he's added back to back elite portal qbs, he turned one of the worst db rooms in the country to the best in the ACC in the matter of one offseason, he hired a great defensive staff this off season. Oh and also, he even hired people to help improve his game day coaching, which was significantly improved in 2024. Our process may seem a little slow, but was there a coach out there that could have turned around Miami overnight back in 2022? I'm leaning towards no on that question. Also, it took harbaugh a while to finally win the big one. People were calling for that man to get fired, and he proved everyone wrong. The same applies for Kirby, Ryan Day and Dabboo Sweeney. 2025 is probably the most talented roster we've had in the last 20 years, and we'll continue to take that next step

The equipment staff have arrived to provide cowardly thoughts and load up the goal posts.

We get it, you don't like Mario. You'd rather see him fail and get fired so you can go around in the comment sections telling everyone "I told you so"
Their are no In told you sos. When Mario got the job I posted nothing. During his first year I was optimistic. But to sit here and say who else could have accomplished a 22-16 record after 3 years is pathetic. I realize that class rankings mean more to some of you than CFP rankings, but he has done less with more until further notice.

His biggest contribution on game day is go/kick decisions, which he was way better at last year.

Although admittedly the Syracuse decision was wrong. For sure. But overall, he was significantly better in this area last season, and was far more aggressive (correctly) than he'd ever been.

5 years ago, there is a 0.0% chance Mario Cristobal is going for it on 4th and 1 in his own territory. None. Last year, he did it several times.

Some progress there.
