I’m struggling to grasp why everyone can’t see he’s facilitating changes as opposed to the louder alternative of firing his subordinates. It’s as you alluded to a defacto marketing move that long term should help Mario’s reputation to attract high end coordinators & assistants.
At the expense of securing players at key positions that would help make the next OC and WR coach successful. The idea that firing Gattis is going to hurt our ability to attract high end candidates is laughable—this happens ALL the time in college football and the NFL. There is a finite number of OC positions so there will always be more potential candidates than openings. In addition, after the absolute dumpster fire that was the offense this season, no candidate is going to not come to Miami because Mario fired Gattis instead of waiting for him to find a soft landing.

Honestly is our OC job even desirable? Really Rhett Lashlee is the only OC to have success here since Jedd Fisch like 10 years ago.

Josh Gattis came here as literally the broyles award winner. After one season he's probably set his career back 5 years and will be lucky to even get a Non play calling CO-OC gig.

Dan Enos came here as one of the top QB coaches in college, if he stayed at Bama he was in the running for a OC job. He came here, failed and had to take a RB coaching job at Cincinnati the following season.

James Coley came here as one of the hottest OC candidates in college football. He was FSU OC under Jimbo Fisher who was viewed as one of the top offensive minds in college football and many teams wanted him as OC. He had somewhat success early on but like the rest on this list he had to take a demotion when leaving and went to Georgia as WR coach.

You pair that with having to work for Mario Cristobal whose one of the most difficult coaches to work for in college. We all have heard the reports that Gattis wasn't Plan A,B or C and thats when Miami had some juice with TVD which they no longer have.
James coley wasn’t a hot OC candidate lol. Nobody was going after him to call plays. The only reason golden hired him because coley was kicking his aśs on the trail

Whatever Mario is gonna do I just wish he’d do it cause this baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad feeling in my stomach I’ve been carrying around for going on 2 months is hard to live with…

Either let us know the guy is staying so I can just Puke my guts out 🤮 or let us know he’s going so I can just go take a huge satisfying dump 💩

Either way Mario give an old man some relief….

Pretty sure he was a hot candidate. Jimbo Fisher was the next big thing in offensive minded HCs back then and a lot of people were interested in his OC to bring that offense to their program.

I also know Mark Stoops tried to bring him to Kentucky

I'm still guessing 50/50 Gattis is let go. Look at what can be verified.
1. He's still here with no mention from any U official to say otherwise.
2. The staff blamed lack of talent on the roster for their short comings.
3. Per current student, Gattis has been seen on campus just recently with U football attire on and seen with current players.
4. Current players still have the Gattis playbook and new players are getting same playbook.
5. Garcia and Ponce both bolt. This one is just a guess but they knew Gattis was being retained and didn't want to go through another uneventful season with him.
Now on the other side, what moves have been made to make anyone think that he is being let go or looking for another job besides rumors?
I really hope he is gone but all signs are pointing to him getting another year.

This doesn’t show he was a hot candidate. Lol there is a reason he was only a OC once for 1 year before he came here and hasn’t gotten another shot since here

Time to get a hobby or two

Assuming for the sake of argument Mario already told Gattis he was not being retained but he was giving him some amount of time to try and find a landing spot before firing him (and that time hasn't lapsed), do you honestly consider that "no accountability"? Providing your employee an opportunity to get their affairs in order before you ultimately go your separate ways doesn't demonstrate a lack of accountability. I also wouldn't jump to the conclusion that Mario would have to "completely lie" to inquiring coaches. He could honestly say it didn't work out for Gattis at Miami the way they'd envisioned, there were some unique challenges this year with the offense and with some injuries that hurt the team, and he ultimately wants to take the offense in a different direction.

As far as the timeframe and how long you give a coach before it starts to get silly, that's a fair point and I agree with you. Once keeping a guys around does more harm to the program than good, it's not a smart move and something needs to be done. I'm not a fan of firing assistant coaches during the season, and I can even understand the logic of waiting until ESD is over to make a move (for plus recruiting coaches, not a guy like Gattis), but keeping Gattis around this long has hurt us with WR recruiting (both HS and portal). If it was up to me, Gattis would have been gone no later than the Friday before the portal opened.
If you can say “it just didn’t work out” to gattis and other coaches and everything else you said, he could have said that before December 1st and there’s no bad optics, bad feelings, and every other excuse this board is making for it not to be public yet is moot.

And I think we basically agree. My problem is if he’s already gone but it hasn’t been done publicly yet, that’s basically accountability disguised as “philosophical differences” or some other BS. Let’s just call it like it is because no one is fooled. And honestly, this is probably what happened to Mario when he inquired about gattis at Michigan. They were like “yeah he’s great, we owe all our success to him”, then Mario hires him based on bad info because they are fine getting rid of him and Jim harbaugh is high fiving his entire offensive staff and helping him pack his things

I guess you don't follow Canes recruiting. Because OCs want a dominant OL more than anything else.
