Okay but why? NGL....I'd actually be okay with Frost as OC. I'm no expert but stats wise his teams (sans Nebraska which I know is hard to omit) put up points.

During his 3 years as Oregon's OC (under Helfrich), their offense was 3rd, 3rd, and 6th in PPG.

The year prior to Frost taking over UCF, the Knights were 123rd in PPG. In his first year, he got them to 64th in PPG followed by that 2017 season where they were 1st. To go from 123rd to 1st in 2 seasons is impressive.

I know his Nebraska teams were not good. And I know the offense especially was bad. I'm aware. But as an OC, it seems like he'd be a solid option.
No to Frost. Spent a lot of time in Nebraska drunk, late or no show for meetings / practices. Didn’t make it to a 5 star crewts home for an in home visit - called the recruits dad the following am hung over. Serious alcohol problems. Do not want.

Gattis can't be let go if he doesn't have a new job.

So, very soon depends on the other team and their timeline.
Has to be a timeline on UMs side. If nobody wants to hire Gattis as word is out on him - then what?? He is out of here. Has to be a deadline on hand holding.

This guy won the Broyles Award. Coached at majorly prestigious programs. Continued to ascend from position coach, to coordinator, etc. I know there were some things at Michigan that were not all roses, but by all accounts, this dude was a rising star in the coaching profession. I read article after article when he was hired about how we'd be lucky to keep him for 2 years, that he's a shoe-in to be a college head coach, raving about his leadership skills, etc.

And he gets here, and in 1 year, he's a complete loser? He walked in the door and became an immediate pulsing malignant tumor with zero tangible skills and completely bombed? How is that even possible? It's not like Mario is the only guy who'd have hired this dude. Again, I read he'd have endless opportunities once he left Michigan, but the allure of Miami (aka the massive contract) pulled him from where he was comfortable and again accelerated his rapidly soaring career. And in 1 year, he's a fraud and a loser and needs to be shot into the sun?

Are we really just this unlucky? Look at the list of Broyles Award winners for the past 10 or so years. They're all HC's, essentially. Pat Narduzzi, Tom Herman, Lincoln Riley, Brent Venables, Tony Elliott, Mike Locksley, Steve Sarkisian. Kirby Smart won it, Gus Malzahn won it. But the guy who we poach off the list is a fraud? How the **** is this possible? How ******* cursed is this program?
Almost everything I've read about him straight up says he sucked everywhere he's been and coaches didn't like him or even hated him. I'm sure there are some nice articles on him obviously but i looked when his name came up as potentially being our OC and it was 80% bad.

-Dude straight up lied about calling plays at Bama. Huge red flag, Locksley (the actual offensive coordinator who called plays) absolutely hates the guy. Seemed pretty dismissive of his coaching abilities as well.

-Nobody at Michigan liked him. He called plays his first two years and the offense was so bad Harbaugh almost got fired. They then let Weiss, who was only an analyst, call plays and mostly game plan (Harbaugh was much more hands on as well). Gattis was not allowed to call plays and basically just assisted with game planning the Weiss/Harbaugh offense.

-After that first food year Harbaugh almost left for the NFL and the AD started sending out feelers for his replacement. Gattis wasn't even considered, he got super butthurt. On top of that, Harbaugh promoted Weiss to be co-OC since he was already running the offense anyway. This was obviously a bad look for Gattis since it was now public and this is when Mario swooped in and hired him after apparently doing poor due diligence.

He's always sucked and has failed upwards somehow from what I can tell.

We had a lot of injuries and the players who didn't execute well. Gattis didn't/couldn't account for that. The relationship is now damaged to the point where he'll fall on his sword and move on. We'll find out later on if he was better than we credited him.
He is cheeks. His offenses at Michigan weren’t good and they had to bring him help

That’s on top of the grossly bad performance in 2022 for Miami and the only coach that constantly crapped on the players publicly

don't think its hand holding. The dude is still on contract and if you fire him UM will have to eat the rest of his contract. If he "leaves" for another job then UM owes him nothing. It's that simple.

I guess at some point a decision will need to be made if he doesn't get hired what to do with him. Another option could be some type of demotion and hiring someone else to do the play-calling.

Still think Penn State is a good spot for him. He's worked for Franklin before and Franklin appears to like him so more than likely will do what he can to help him out.

Your 3rd point is incorrect. Weiss was named Co-OC (along with Sherrone Moore) after Gattis left. When Gattis left, he was the OC. They filled the vacancy by naming 2 dudes, Weiss and Moore, as Co-OCs. So that whole 3rd bullet is wrong.

I just don't get how someone can "always suck" and go from an SEC WR coach, to a Big 10 WR coach, to an SEC Co-OC, to a Big 10 OC, to an award for the very best ******* coordinator in the entire god**** country, and he's a complete disaster, and of course ends up in our lap? How the **** does that happen? I mean, Lincoln Riley and Brent Venables won this award. And we get the guy who joins that group but has done nothing but fail upward? I'm absolultely baffled how this **** only happens to Miami.

Gattis being a disaster did t surprise me one bit.

A more appropriate question I ask, “how did Mario allow this to happen?”
