I troll a **** ton admittedly. I did believe changes were gonna get made just who knows on timing. idc Marios reasoning. it's his job not mine. he also has complete control so he can pick his *** up for 4 months if he wanted to. no one buying out that deal so its his show. its our jobs as fans to cheer him on or *****.
also, my point of the post was we waited I guess close to 2 months for a public announcement bc even the insiders were left wondering when it was going to happen (cribby even said a few times that he was told this would happen but hes still waiting - see DVD stuff). im just glad changes are finally official now and I can now enjoy the OC thread
I get it. I mean, let's be honest, at this point you and RVA have devoted way more words to this than my original "It wasn't two months" post, which was pretty harmless. Unless you were offended, in which case I apologize, it wasn't intentional.
I've had this hiring-timing conversation (non-troll version) with plenty of people, in texts, in DMs, and even once in person ( @wspcane ), you can check my consistency. I have said from the outset that Mario would not "part with" anyone until the replacements were nearly certain to be signed. He was going to do everything to avoid the "open jobs" timeframe of 2022. So the only real "time" variable was whenever Mario would be able to talk with his target(s) and make firm offers.
The whole "letting guys find other jobs" aspect, while partially true and wholly relevant, was based on when the job market thawed, and REAL movement would begin. I know guys have cited specific instances of "University X just hired a coordinator", but those were one-offs, and the real movement is happening now. I think we can all read between the lines and realize that Gattis is having a tougher time lining up his next job than Ponce did, so if enough time passes, we will have a late Christmas miracle of "mutual parting", like what happened with Leavitt (though Leavitt was really fired).
