Heard something interesting from someone close to the NFL and the Giants. They told me if Gattis is gone, they believe Shea Tierney the Giants QB coach will be in the mix for our job and others. This person has no connection I know of to UM. Really just educated speculation.
At this point is pretty clear that Gattis is gone.

The reason for this "delay" can only be that the next OC is busy at the moment + Mario didn't want to fire Gattis and make him the scapegoat abruptly (he has his faults obviously but he's not alone IMHO). The timeline on which Mario is moving has become a joke here and rightfully so, I'm just trying to make sense of this situation.

I'm sticking with the Joe Brady prediction (Dorsey-Moorhead-SEC connection and we were interested last year) but he could very well be someone like Tierney.

Joe Brady is likely going to the Jets.

Personally, I find that last sentence laughable…Why would an nfl oc come to Miami? nfl oc’s are constantly on the verge of being a hc with the way the nfl hires and are always in high demand. Coming to Miami without the ability to hire your own staff, to run an offense with one arm tied behind your back, would be idiotic
An OC from the NFL just went to Kentucky, and this guy is a QB coach not an OC. I do agree these types are heavy lifts.

It's simple, Gattis is gone.
Mario preaches "family" and that includes coaching staff. He allows Gattis to secure new gig to save face, which in his mind makes working as a position coach for Mario more "desirable". If you are a prick and humiliate guys to save face, nobody is going to want to take rhat risk working for you. He doesn't give 2 ***** about CIS's timeline for announcements.

I don't think the sentence necessarily implies NFL OCs, especially when the guy in question is a QB coach.

Which HC would you point to as an example of this? That it's known no assistants want to work for them because they might get fired for an awful performance? Or on the other side, what example do you know about where assistants are drawn to a HC because rumor is you won't get fired? Or did you just completely pull this out of your *** to justify the current disaster?

Ferman just said something similar.

He says that he doesn't expect Gattis to be the OC this season but that no one in the building- Mario- is looking to embarrass him by publicly firing him, etc. He was a Broyles Award winner and prior to coming to Miami, had a solid career. It isn't a secret that things didn't work out last season - it wasn't a good fit for either party in a number of ways. But the amount of injury to the offensive side of the ball did not help either. Ferman says they are giving him time to explore his options - likely in the NFL, but not exclusively- and eventually this will work itself out.

Y’all coming up with hypotheses about why it’s taking so long is hilarious. The thing is it’s just what Mario does and what he has always done. Like I said the other day when he fired leavitt at oregon it wasn’t done until February. When he replaced his wr coach at oregon it was done right before spring ball

Gattis won’t be the only one either

But CIS told me it’s a total ****show and Mario is sabotaging the program and doesn’t care and hates the fans and might fight Sebastian in the middle of US1.
So many "fans" on this site.......

the dark knight rises GIF

But you don’t think Mario’s timeline is killing us when it comes to WR Portal additions? Literally might be our most needed position and we currently don’t have an OC and WR coach if Gattis is really gone

Would you rather him hire just any OC in order to secure (possibly) portal WRs right now? Or would you rather him hire the OC he wants most?

You guys are funny. You want him to hire an OC, by golly ANY OC, in order to secure some flood of portal WRs (even though that’s not guaranteed). And yet if it’s not the guy you want, you’ll say oh my god Mario is an idiot, he hired THAT guy?? How bout we just get it right this time?

Yes, I’d have liked Mario to fire Gattis the day the season ended and hired Garrett Riley or Kendal Briles, etc already. But he didn’t. That doesn’t mean the off-season is a ****show. All of you have been told Gattis will not be back. That in itself is a win already.

Obscure facts about Tierney
He went to Lackawanna like Young and had a letter of reference from Stoutland, who may be the greatest non head coach to pass through Miami

So seems like the most likely outcome is Gattis getting a NFL position coach job to save face and salvage his career
