It is actually elite whether it's at 5th or 7th when you consider that he did that off of a 5-7 season where most of the 7 losses were horrific to watch. One player is not making your class elite or not elite. If it's not without him, it's not with him.
It’s either elite or it isn’t. Previous record has no bearing. It’s a great effort to get it where it is. I will give Mario that. Top 7 is not Elite

I don't grade on a curve. It's Mario's own **** fault we went 5-7, we easily could have won more games. If anything, last year should have taught you that we NEED to have a talent advantage for Mario to succeed here, because he doesn't hire coordinators that give us an X's and O's advantage.

#7 is not ELITE. You might say it's good, but it's not elite. Alabama's class is elite. Georgia's class is elite. Miami's class without Cormani is decent but nothing special in the big picture. It doesn't get us closer to catching up with the elite schools.
I think if we had a normal year of injuries instead of the disaster we had this year, we would have won 7-8 games and things wouldnt have looked so bad. Its hard to judge the coaches with what they had happen to the team. Now, if next year we have a more normal injury amount and we still struggle then I would agree more.
I mean what do you expect Steele to do realistically do when you have a CB in Ivey that pretty much any receiver can run an inside slant on for 6-10 yards at any moment in the game and the only way to stop it is to bring help which exposes another area of the field. And if Ivey plays inside, the WR burns him over the top for a TD. And Ivey is the best option at that spot which is the scary part. Does it really matter at that point what the rest of the defense does or the coaches call?
What do you expect Gattis to do when the Oline cant block cause the best ones are hurt or playing hurt or moving from position to position each game and the best QB gets hurt along with the best TE, best WR and most of the RBs.

I’m not arguing, but most coaches get a bump their first recruiting cycle or two. What he did last year was almost more impressive to me

Gattis offense will be better Year 2. Accept it. Between spring ball and summer workouts we will talk ourselves into 9-11 win predictions.

I think it is obvious that Mario has absolute complete control of the Miami football progrum. It must be in his contract. I do think that he has a big card up his sleeve and I hope I am right. He calls ALL of the shots believe that.
Agree with this 100%

If it’s Mario’s fault that his team went 5-7 then it is all because of Mario that his team won 12 games and the Pac12 title. If it’s all on the coach, it’s all on the coach.
Not sure you want to go with that because then you’re bringing FIU into the equation

I can’t tell you why and I have absolutely no information to back it up but I just keep having this feeling that JG being gone and a new OC being hired is going to drop out of the blue kind of like GR to Clemson.
