... and you're gonna get a "legit reason" from mostly-disgruntled fans on a message board, 99.9% of which have zero insight or ties to the program. Got it.

Because Miami wasn't in a bowl game, it gave the program almost an extra month of the clock technically ticking—when focus would've been solely on a post-season game.

It's January 2nd. The regular NFL season ends in six days, which is when a lot of those coaches will start talking to teams about potential job opps.

****, the college football season isn't technically over until a week from today.

The timeline of making this move is meaningless in relation to the move itself being made. For all we know, yes there are buyout clauses in place and professional courtesy extended.

Maybe there are NFL coaches in consideration ... or maybe Gattis is staying for another year and all of this is moot.

Regardless, asking a jaded message board fan base for scoop about an offensive coordinator's future will lead nowhere.
I think the timeline is relevant because gattis still being on staff is actively hurting us with recruiting.

Given that Mario prioritizes recruiting above all else, it doesn’t really make sense he’d delay the gattis departure for whatever reason while it’s being used against us on the trail.

Understandable. I'm just pointing out that "current employer" and "current success" are not absolute barriers to taking a (relatively) lateral move to another program. There might be reasons.

Although I will laugh at the CIS porsters who will freak out when they learn that Riley is the current Broyles Award winner...
Yes, but Riley actually calls the plays at TCU.

For the millionth time...

There are OTHER factors too. Personality clashes. Decision-making limitations. Personnel authority.

Just because a person watches one TV program one time where they see a guy appearing to say things into a headset (since there is no audio)...is not some definitive statement on how the HC-OC relationship actually is.

We just don't know at this time. We don't. So how about we save the "I know that Coach X will never come to Miami because it represents a lateral move" bullcrap for AFTER the hire is made?

Come back and scream "I told you so" at the top of your lungs. I don't care, knock yourself out.

Seriously? Basically his annual salary and bonus deal represented on a daily basis. But you are paying him regardless so his "buyout" going down only means that what you pay him this week is already paid and not owed as part of his severance.

After @Andrew figures out how to censor all the dirty words, his next target is obvious tongue-in-cheek jokes like mine.

Yes, I am fully aware that it's his daily salary. That's why I made the joke. To test the math skills of other posters.

You missed WHO I was responding to. It was NOT to your post ... but to the guy who responded to you asking "and you know this how?".
