Great points on Saban. The truth with coaches like Saban is that if they don't win they are not successful. Players play hard and do well for him because they respect him and see that his method works. If he wasn't winning it would be a different story.

Oh, and Urban is a ******

But he is winning, and the method has been working, for both him and Urban. There is no other story.
Both won, but what Urban left in Florida? A disaster... and he jumped out of the mess before it explode. Or do you believe in that health lame excuse?

Saban on the other hand built a well-oiled machine

The team Urban left was 11-2 last year if im not mistaken and also was decimated with injuries this year. Dont act like that doesnt play a part. Either way Urban is 24-1 at his new gig. Whatever those two sell to the high school coaches and the players and families obviously gets it done and being in the $EC helps. End of story.
Let´s see if he can keep it running for a long time like Saban...

He's done it before, he won two championships in a 3 year period. I hate him, but guys like him and Saban has earned their stripes in CFB.

As much as it pains me to say this, * really has no excuse not to go on a run here.

I love MichSt and Dantonio is the type of guy that gets the most out of his players, but Meyer's recruiting and coaching prowess relative to the other coaches in the B1G is in a league of it's own. That combination is going to keep them winning for a while, IMO.

Thats not my point...

I´m not calling him an incompetent coach(the record speaks for itself), I´m doubting his ability to keep it going for a long time.

In every sport you have coaches like this... winners, but with expiration date.

Fair enough, but my doubt with Urban is his ability to keep the machine under control since my reference is his time in florida.

Can´t doubt his ability to coach

Ok, i see where you're trying to get. But he's already done it before. Go look at his time in Florida. Like you said, the record speaks for yourself. Any smart highschool recruit would take notice. If Urban Meyer or Nick Saban were coaching the canes from 05-to now, not one hurricane fan would have a negative comment about these guys if they did what they did at bama, uf or * here for the hurricanes.

Fact is Golden didn't close. Can't blame Daniels. Gotta close despite him.

So I guess this means Urban is getting every recruit he targeted this year. Saban? Yep. Errrr wait.

Two best recruiters in the game get beat every year for players that they target.

You win some, you lose some. You ****tards are impossible.

Been following recruiting a long time. Here's my quick take right or wrong.

1. Recruiting is a completely different game now than even 10 years ago. The internet and every other social media site has made previously hard to get places, like Belle Glade for example, completely accessible. Traveling teams, camps, street agents, are more prevalent than ever before. The diamond in the rough is a needle in the haystack now more than ever. The recruiting advantage that the U had geographically has been somewhat compromised by all of this.

2. Power conferences, TV contracts, and an uber-competitive mindset, has changed the game whereby some of the best coaches in football sometimes choose to stay in college or coach in college because the money is just as good as the pros and with better security. This has given some of the power schools in power conferences a competitive advantage on average which often times translates on to the recruiting field. It also translates to winning at all costs whereby HS coaches get commissions to send kids to other colleges. That's what I meant about the competitive mindset. It's extreme and at all costs. We're just at a disadvantage there.

3. Saban, Meyer, and Jimbo, for example, will continue to come into Miami and take kids because they have the record and the pitch to do so. It's that simple. Say what you want about weather, chicks, academics, etc., it's not as important as some make it out to be. Strip it all away. At the end of the day, you are left with enormously successful coaches with winning records and a track record of success. That's so much of an easier pitch. If Miami wants to build that fence around the "State of Miami", it isn't happening unless they start winning.

4. Personally, I don't give a isht about Dixon like some do on here. Good player but not elite like a Coley. Regardless, you have to chalk this up as a loss because it was clear that Golden wanted him, and that's all that matters.

This man is very wise. He doesn't post much, but when he does, it is always solid and a good read.

Spoken like someone who has followed recruiting and realizes you need to be on an even keel.

Here is my "cool story bro" contribution to this thread. I went to school with Johnnie Dixon's dad, Johnnie Dixon Sr. His dad was a **** of an athlete and a really good basketball player. Any way, senior went on to have 16 children, Johnnie Dixon Jr. being the first of the 16. By my math, senior went on to have 1 child a year for about 16 years. Strong work.

Where did you go to HS? Gardens?

I remember hearing that about Dixon's dad having a bunch of kids. He must have another kid coming up soon with some athletic ability! I haven't heard of any others!
