Job offered

Penny aint leaving his alma mater. Sean Miller hasn't exactly been tearing it up during his second stint at Xavier either. Chris Mack is the name I'd keep my eye on.

Ok. Well then he 100% lied to his team and his recruits... But if you'd feel better thinking I lied than go with that. I also had someone pretty high up in athletics with us confirm it since. But I really don't care. Our bball program isn't really something that keeps my attention.

I just want to be on the StarkVegas Connection Zoom calls where Jans updates his team and recruits on all his new job offers from other schools.

I get it. Trust me I thought it was laughable that he'd tell his team and recruits that mid season as well. But when he told my nephew I was actually on the phone with nephew. So take it however you choose. No more context than that.

Personally I don't know **** about our basketball program and how it functions inside and out. Only reason I was aware of this was a phone call of MSU coach with my nephew (who's committed there) & he said that. Past that I spoke with one particular individual high up in our athletic department who confirmed that some time later. Past those two conversations I know nothing about this. Football is the only thing I'm intimate with.

Formal offers literally only ever go out once you're certain they've basically already accepted the job. It's why every time ever a hire isn't made or something "falls through" they walk away saying "no offer was made"... Like yeah sure, but really no lol.

Cause last thing you want is to have that be a legit offer they turn you down and then you pick another guy and he's like well CLEARLY and publicly I am not the first choice to lead this program ..

It's like why every NFL team that drafts claims they received 4 guys they had as 1st rounders on their big board, lol. Oh and guys that were drafted in the same range at same position, nah of course they had THIS one they drafted ahead of the guy the other team drafted right before! Lmao

Absolutely. To be clear, I’m not Rad, Joe, Rudy, or Manny but my understanding is that they are still not at a point of extending even an unofficial offer.

According to this post Jans was allegedly offered the job on or before January 5. Coach L’s retirement was announced on 12/26 and he only made the decision to retire on 12/24.

No way Jans or anybody was offered in a 10 day period over the holidays.

Thats almost silly. There’d be back channel conversations during season that would take more than 10 days to even gauge interest.

It’s possible that feelers were put out by Miami or someone close to the program and Jans’ and other coach’s agents were contacted to gauge what interest they’d have in the job opening.

Certainly not a far-fetched thing for a coach to run with it and tell those closest to him and prospective athletes that there’s a possibility he’ll be coaching elsewhere next season.

Of course. That… not an offer.

And it’s almost downright silly that Jans would then immediately turn around and tell his team that Miami offered him the job.
 
As soon as the OP said that Jans was offered the job I scratched him off the list. I don't believe it for one second that Miami offered anyone the job that quickly and without interviewing them in person.
